PIP: DIY up the Wazoo

(Trying a different PIP'ing method-hope it works...)Lots of projects going on! I created our menus by tri-folding letter-size cardstock, then covering in "duck cotton" fabric of different patterns. I printed the "menu" text onto ribbon, and then will glue these (real) sugar starfish on once we get there:If you have a FI who is hesitant to participate, hand him a Dremel! Actually, this ringholder was FI's idea from start to finish - it's a coconut sawed in half, hollowed out, and carved into (there's a heart on the other side). The carvings are covered on the inside with vellum, and there will be a light inside on the day-of: I love the "bride" and "groom" signs I've seen on reception chairs, but thought these letters would be easier for me to make. They are wooden letters bought at a craft store, then covered with sheet sphagnum moss, and they'll be hanging by ribbon from our chairs:This one will make my family smile. Not sure why, but I loved cross-stitching when I was a kid (don't love it anymore), and it's what I gave as gifts for about three years! So of course, I had to have one at my Big Day:

Those turned out great!!!  The menus are very pretty (love the design) and the coconut/ring orb is very creative.  Good on your FI for coming up with such a great idea AND actually making it himself.

Wow you guys, your comments have just made my day! I've been so caught up in the details of all this crafting and wedding planning, that posting the pics here was the first time I've sort of stepped back to see how things are coming together. Really, thank you all for the humorous and awesome encouragement!!Karen - I will send you an email today. The menus were pretty simple to make, just a little time consuming (lots of waiting for glue to dry!)machan2010 - the fabric for the menus was purchased at Joann Fabrics. I'm not sure of the designer, but all four patterns I used were in the "duck cotton" section (it's a canvas-like cotton, sort of thick). It was easy to work with; it folded nicely and and stayed glued well, whereas other softer fabrics might be more of a challenge (but still doable, if you find a pattern you like)japnezdoll - to print on the ribbon, I got the text the way I wanted it (as far as the font and size), and sent a regular piece of paper through the printer. Then, I placed double-sided tape on top of the text, and that's where I placed the ribbon, and sent it through again. Just be sure your tape and ribbon start at the same spot, or else the ribbon can get caught up in the printer when it's first pulling your paper through.Oh, and - I didn't figure this out until the end, but a printer setting of "normal" or whatever, vs. "best", actually looks better. The "best" seemed to saturate the ribbon fabric, and the text did not look as crisp.
