Depending on the state you were born in is how you have to go about it. I was born in california and I needed my moms name and dads name on the birth certificate my name as it is on the birth certificate. I did this all electronially they stated it can take up to 6wks but probably took 2 and plus you have to pay a fee. Just check with the state you were born in.

what county do you live in. In Fairfield County you only need a state issued photo id, and you most current divorce papers, or death certificate of you spouse if you are a widow. Check the website for the county you live in, it should be listed.

I should clarify, that is to get your marriage license. You shouldn't need either your birth certificate, or ss card. To get a new birth certificate, you have to go to the county health department division of vital statistics, in the county you were born in,  to get a new one. Some places let you do it by mail, again check their website.

I was born in Ohio, got married in Franklin County, and all I needed was my SSC. I don't think you need both, or at least I didn't!

my fiance was the same way (he had neither a bc or a ssc). You just need to get a temporary SSC (it's a letter) from the Social Security Agency and bring it with you to get your marriage license. You don't need a birth certificate.

I should clarify: that requirement was in franklin county and you get the temporary SSC from the social security agency. We went to the one downtown and it took about a half hour. The only ID you need to get a new social security card is a driver's license/state ID.
