Where to start in Waikiki

Hi everyone!

I'm feeling very overwhelmed and lost. I don't know how to narrow down possible sites in Waikiki or Honlulu. My fiance and I are definelty in the budget wedding category and just checked out the Hale Koa (he's Navy). I loved their ceremony site but wasn't thrilled with the reception hall. It was very indoors feeling. I am hoping to keep the ceremony and reception either in the same spot or close together as all our guests are going to be from the mainland. We are looking for a more outdoor, patio, lanai sort of location for the reception, something with hawaiian feel!
We also wanted to check out Mid-Pacific Country Club as we are in Kailua. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks so much. Any tips on how to narrow down locations to check out or an recommendations would really be appreciated. I'm stumped!

Mahalo!

Hi and welcome!  Did you see the Luau Garden while you were there?  They have an outdoor covered seating area...I think it would definitely be something to check out.  Take a look at my bio...I have pictures and information (I'm getting married at Hale Koa too).  It is definitely the most reasonable hotel in Waikiki.

I think the first thing you can do to narrow down your choices by thinking about your priorities.  Are you set on an outdoor venue?  Do you want to be on the beach, or would you be equally happy with a lush, garden or mountain scene?  How big or small do you want it?

If you are thinking of a hotel wedding, feel free to contact me for more info or pictures.  I collected a lot in my search and since I'm local, I've attended weddings at various hotels.  HTH!  Good luck with the planning!

    Welcome to the boards!

Is the Hale Koa where Cristin got married?
