What type of music are you wanting to have the pianist play? We had a pianist for our cocktail hour and we wanted someone that was more upbeat and played Billy Joel, Elton John type of music. We hired Matt Munhall and we was awesome! He is an actual musician that puts out records, etc but does side gigs to pay the bills. He actually plays at some of the nicer restaraunts around town, so you could even see his live before you book him. Email me if you would like his info - chimonique@gmail.com If you are looking for someone more traditional (though I think Matt can do traditional too) you can try looking into some of the musician companies around. There is one place (I forget the name) that we looked at and they are essnetially a booking company and you can hire musicians like pianists through them. We ended up not using them, but they were very helpful and professional when we were inquiring and asking questions.

We used Doug Hare (dougharemusic.com). I can't speak for his costs, since he's married to my bridesmaid (I hear he's very reasonable, which doesn't surprise me), but he's very talented. The company Monique was thinking of was probably Class Acts, though I know Louis Tsamous at the Jazz Arts Group acts as a lower cost agent to the local jazz musicians around town.
