Hawaii

So, how's your week been?

Hey ladies, sorry I've not been around much this week. My work computer doesn't like the knot's new coding very much and it keeps crashing on me. In all fairness to the knot though, it also crashes on me when I try to access my email!

It's been a rough week for me - the drama with child services and the police has taken up most of my after school time at the beginning of the week. On top of that, I had an evaluation done yesterday (basically my VP watches me teach a class and tells me if I'm a good teacher or a bad one), which was super stressful and a staff party.

Have I mentioned how glad I am that I only have 6 teaching days left until the break? Because I really, really am.

Other than that, I've been a terrible bride - I got half my thank you cards out before the wedding and still have a few left to go. I got an email from a young cousin who was kinda hurt, and I felt  SO guilty. So let this be a lesson to all those who drag their butts or get wrapped up in their own lives, like me! Get them all done! On time! Not 4 months later!

Okay, so that's enough from me! What's been going on with everyone else?

    Hi ladies

Thought I'd pop in a say hello (this new format makes me crazy and impatient).

Things have been rough for me :( My mom is still having a hard time adjusting to things without my dad so I've been flying back to Hawaii almost every week and I'm so sick of planes right now. My furnace is shot so I've been living in 50 degree weather in the house only thanks to space heaters and it'll be $2-3K to replace (which insurance won't cover because it was from water damage). And now I have a great big whole in my wall because a neighbor's tree fell on the power line and ended up yanking our powerline into our house - so now we have to pay a $1000 deductible to get it fixed even though it's not our fault. Booo :( Sorry to vent so long.

But I miss you all! I peek in every now and again and it's nice to see the pictures that come up and so many new faces. To see all the fun plans is a nice escape from the stress.

*Kaesha - you lucky girl - only 6 more days until your break!! I'm jealous! Don't feel bad about your thank you notes - we finally dropped all of ours into the mail just yesterday. Our biggest motivation to finish them was to start using our wedding presents - we wouldn't let ourselves indulge into they were done.

Foxy!!  and Kaesha!! So sorry to hear that your weeks have been so awful.  Foxy, I hope you'll pop in at the HI nest, the browser works better for that one for me, at least on my computer.

Roxanne, I can't believe you have heater damage and a hole in your house.  It's like your house is being attacked.  I hope married life makes things a little sweeter though.  wishing much sympathy to you, your mom, and your family.  Really hope it gets better soon.

Alyson, 6 more days!  I'm glad you wrote a note here - it's been so dead, and having been away for a while, I felt shy to post like I used to.  Seems like lots of girls in our "co-hort", who got married around the same time, aren't around that much.  I hope the Family Services situation works out for the best.

My week has been okay, other than having been off work for 5 1/2 weeks (I came back last thursday to work) - I promptly end up with some nasty stomach virus or food poisoning on Sunday night!  I dragged myself to work on Monday, because I was like, "I cannot be absent again after just 2 days back,"  But there was vomiting, and shall we say, vomiting out the other end, and by noon at work, I was just in tons of pain.  Called the nurse on-call thing for Kaiser, and she assessed me and told me to go to the ER.  It was fine, the worst part was that I was in the most pain while waiting for hours for the hospital bed, and actually my stomach felt a little better by the time I was admitted.  Got IV infusion, and left the same day.

But I've been doing so much better overall, and I'm actually glad to be back at work despite the whole "I hate my job" thing.  I'm trying to be thankful for all the good things about it, and do proactive things about my career instead of being depressed about it.

thanks for the all the updates ladies!!! I agree with jen, I feel like a lot of knotties who got married at the same time (there was a flurry!) all up and left :( but maybe it's because the year is ending, everyone is getting busy, and it's a down-season for weddings???

My week has been okay. We finally got snow here in NY and it has been freezing!!! On my walk to school today I thought my face was going to freeze right off! I love my new class. We spent one day each making gluten-free, sugar free, and vegan products. Very interesting! And now I'm trying to develop my own version of a cake into a dairy-free, a sugar-free, and a reduced calorie version. Hard!

Good news though: Today I found out that I am receiving the "President's Scholarship" from my school for having the highest GPA in my class!! It's $1000, and since my tuition is already all paid up, I get to keep it!!! That is a huge blessing, since I haven't seen $1K  in my account in a loong loong time. Being a student sucks, but at least my hard work paid off! Wow!

A week from today, I'll be home in sunny CA with my family! My younger brother in the Army will be coming home from Iraq! And a week from Sunday I get to see FI!! We haven't seen each other in almost 5 1/2 months. I absolutely cannot waiiiiiiittttt!!! And we're getting our STDs mailed out! ANd I get to pick up my dress!

Just have to get through next week. Ugh!

    Wow ladies!

Alyson, sucks about the whole Child services thing, I know how evals go too, so stressful!

Foxy good to hear from ya!

    Jen-hope you are feeling better!

My week has been super busy, this time of year is crazy busy for USA Volleyball, and so I have been working lots of hours, up to 70 a week! ahhhh.....still trying to be a good wifey though. We also got word that we might be moving into our home this weekend-yea the home we purchased back in OCt-long story.....short sales suck! But I guess the "Deal" is worth it.....other than that, just trying to make it through the cold winter without gaining 20 lbs.!!!

lol yeah I think we were!!! Wow, 70 hour work week?! killer! At least you get paid for it! And you get to move in to your house... awesome! Kinda bad timing with the holiday, but maybe it'll help to break it in!

Jen - I hope you feel better as well, and that you are enjoying your new living arrangments! so jealous!

kaesha - 6 days! so awesome! hopefully you'll have time between all the holiday madness to finish up your thank you cards really quick and enjoy your time off!

Congratulations, Aubrey!!  That's a great achievement!  I hope you get to use at least a little of that 1k to get yourself a gift.

Woo! A huge congrats on the scholarship. There's NOTHING like being rewarded for all your hard work!

It always gets dead on here around this time of the year - but I think it's being exaggerated by the new boards being slow in IE. It'll pick up again after all the Christmas proposals!

Or we can just chitter chatter away here!

WOW!  Sounds like you all hae had interesting and incredible weeks.

I hate this new format stuff but thanks to Alyson's post managed to get rid of the tv at the top so that I am not driven totally insane.  I feel like I never get on here anymore!

The holidays are consuming my life right now.  Most of my shopping is done.  Still have a couple of things for FI, stocking stuffers for the kids and gift cards for the teachers.  This weekend I intend to finish shopping, get packages ready to be shipped and do baking.  I've already baked 2 rum cakes today!  Cooking is my own version of therapy.

My friend that is designing my invitations called yesterday with her zillion ideas and I told her lets focus on that in January.  I plan on sending them out in February so a month should be fine.  I can't think of anything but the holidays right now.  The kids have their last week of school next week (they are counting down with you Alyson) so next week will be filled with school parties.

Ohhh, I did eat a dozen cookies all by myself on Wednesday lol.  Come January it's back to the straight and narrow.  I have my first dress fitting in April!

Tomorrow is the lighting of the nations tallest Christmas tree which just so happens to be at a Casino right by my house so we'll be going to that tomorrow night.

Okay, I'm exhausted just typing all this out LOL.  You all have a good weekend!

    Hi Ladies!

Sorry Foxy and Kesha.  I hope things get better for you both.  How's my week?  That's a loaded question.  I've had a stressful week. My 9yr old niece was hospitalized last weekend in NJ. It took 3 days of my family agruing with doctors to get them to do an ultrasound and figure out what was wrong.  Instead they chose to keep giving her morphine for the pain.  It was VERY stressful not knowing what was wrong with her and the Dr's were no help at all.  I was preparing for a road trip to Jersey.

Fortunately, she is doing so much better. Poor kid had an intestinal blockage.  They finally gave her the right medicine to help with that.  My niece is back to the happy go lucky kid we all love - thank goodness. She went back to school on Thursday.

To say the least, that wore me down.  As for work; well, it's work-LOL.  I have 11 days left before my holiday break.  I can't wait to just do nothing!!

Hello ladies. It's nice to see you on here. I probably won't be around much for the rest of the month. I'm in the middle of working on my senior talk--it's an hour long Grand Round presentation I give on the 28th. Pretty much dreading it. But, it's nice to take a quick break and check out what you all are up to. Have a wonderful holiday season. I'm looking forward to getting back to knotting with you in January.

I feel like I am missing out on so much!  I have been lurking though.  I am so busy with final touches as I leave next Friday for Maui!!  We picked up our wedding bands from the jeweler today and I talked to Jamie Lawrence to finalize songs being played.   Really I have nothing left to do until I get to Maui and have to pick up stuff from Costco.  I am getting so excited and I don't know how I am going to go to work this next week!  Again, it is good to hear how everyone is doing.  Ta Ta for now!

I probably should have answered this before so it would have been easier to keep track of what everyone said, hmm..Here are a few thoughts

Amy - good luck with all the last details!  Everything will go smoothly, I know it.
REM - that must have been so scary for your family!  I'm glad they finally figured out what was wrong.
Aubrey - congrats on your scholarship!

But really, such busy weeks for everyone!  Kaesha and Fox, I have no idea what it feels like to be going through your situations but I am praying that the best works out in both of your cases.  I just can't even imagine how emotionally draining it must be..Please keep us updated so we can keep sending good vibes both of your ways!!

As for me, not so very much is going on lately.  I'm working at Macy's part time/seasonal for the super early shift and the last few mornings have been really slow.  I think I need more than four hours of sleep at night, hehe, but I've been staying up late talking to all the people in my house because they've been leaving for Vanuatu, Fiji, India, and the Philippines in the last couple of days.  I'm going to miss them!

Ahhh... so glad this was posted. FI is sick of hearing me complain. Let's just say I feel overloaded right now.

After getting a worthless degree five years ago I have decided to go back for my post-bach nursing degree. It's amazing on how much stamina your brain loses after being out of school for a few years. I have been studying my arse off with not-so-great results, which is extremely frusteration. On top of going back to school I still am working full time in a very stressful environment which leaves me feeling emotional and physicaly drained each day.

Because off all of this, my engagement time has absolutely flown by! I feel like I don't have anything in place and the budget is really getting tight. Plus, it's becoming a reality that the figures that are listed in that budget are actually going to have to be paid out soon, and out of our pockets. What were we thinking??? No, but really, I am extremely excited but just very stressed at the same time. Not enough minutes in the day and not enough dollars in the pocketbook.

Ahhhh... thanks for listening. That felt better. :)
