When is too late for the dress?

Hello ladies!

I'm just under 7 months out -squee!- and I have a question about the dress. My best friend is making my dress and I have full confidence in her abilities, I do however not have full confidence in her timeliness. She claims that she can start and finish it in the month of June, and that's great... but if she doesn't that is a little too close to comfort for the deadline for me.

When should be the cut off time for me to buy a back-up dress?

I think the minimum time frame for dresses if you're not buying a sample size is close to 3-4 months... it took my seamstress 6 weeks to complete all my alterations. The dress itself (which was a custom made one) took another 3-4 months on top of that.

My dress came in 3 months, the alterations should be pretty quick if you need them to be.

I think you can put a rush order on a dress for extra cost of course. I wouldn't do it any later than 3 months out!
