Wedding in September Reception New Years Eve??

Hi Ladies,So I am in need of some insight... My FI and I are planning a September 24th 2010 wedding in Hilton Head Island, will go on our honeymoon for two weeks and then want to have a reception.I really like the idea of having a New Years eve reception in Columbus, but am wanting to get your thoughts... Is it silly to have a reception three months later?Thank you again!

I don't think it silly. My cousin went to Cancun and was married there and had the reception about 10 weeks later. With thier work schedules and family schedules it just made more sense, and it was a great party. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

I think it sounds fantastic!! Personally, I think you should do whatever works best for you both. If people can make it, fantastic! If not, well, that's OK too! If I were invited to an event such as yours, I'd be over the moon. What a fun way to celebrate your newly married life! I say go for it :)

I don't think that it is silly at all! Fi and I are having our reception September 25, 2010 and will be married sometime before then. We haven't decided where yet but it could be as early as May if we do the Alaskan cruise and that would be four months. I just think it makes things much less stressful and will allow us to really enjoy our reception.

I agree with everyone! You could really make it a fun party on NYE too!

I think a NYE reception would be so fun.  The one thing I would keep in mind for guests is that it is pretty darn close to impossible to get a cab in Cbus on NYE (I'm talking waiting hours and hours til 3-4 AM).  You might want to offer transportation to a hotel for your guests, so they don't get stranded at the reception (or make a bad decision and drive).

Thank you so much ladies!! I am so glad to hear that others love it too! My mom and FI are not loving it, but I think it would be a BLAST!
