Getting tired of "Maui time"

Starting to get a bit frustarted here.  Its 2.5 months till our big wedding...75-77 guests, and we are STILL waiting on a few vendors.  Not only that, our WC still needs to get back to us on a ceremony musician.
Our first cupcake order fell through when we heard the store shut down.  Now we are waiting on "Cakes by Joann" to confirm an order, and have yet to hear from her in over 10 days!!
Im sure it will come around, and I guess I understand that our WC is really busy (as she says), but I feel our wedding is quite big, and close, and these details should be locked down...and soon lol.

Re: Getting tired of "Maui time"

  • I heard Joann takes quite a while. Try Heidi with Maui Sweet Cakes (previously Cakewalk Bakery). I emailed her recently and responded in less than 48 hrs. She does cupcakes in addition to other baked goods. I feel you on Maui time, though, but I don't have much patience. lol. If I don't get a response back within 24 hours I start going crazy! Haha. But I'm slowly learning to ease up on that... Hope that helps and good luck!

  • I totally get the "Maui time". We are 44 days out and are still making decisions with vendors or waiting to get back to them. In less than 2 weeks many of our vendors will need final payment which is difficult when you don't know what the total balance is yet.

I am just treating this whole situation as an exercise in patience and trusting that my highly recommended professionals will come through as they work with weddings everyday .

I know it is tough but try to not let it stress you out too much.

  • Honestly, it will come together. They do SO many weddings that they don't really focus too much on them until right before because otherwise they'd lose track of everything.

Try not to stress out, it will be perfect :)
  • Ladies I totally hear what you're all saying, we didn't finalize many of our details ( florals, dessert, vows, music selection, decor, favours, seating chart) until one month out which left me feeling a wee anxious that everything would work out! Do not fret, magically it all comes together and everything and everyone on Maui will come through for you in the end! Trust me, even with a coordinator who re assured me things would be fine, I still wondered in the back of my mind if this would be true and vented my doubts to my hubby at times! Although our day was "perfect for us" not everything was exactly what I had asked for, but with a destination wedding you just have to lose some control and let whatever be...be. Lesson learned, when they say everything always works out in the end, it's soooooo true!!

  • Yeah, so true.  Thx for the reassurance;)

Diana, we have been in contact with Heidi, and will hire her if all else fails.  Only problem with her is she is located super far, and doesnt have towers for the cupcakes, so we would have to rent elsewhere....but she sent pictures and they did look good.

  • Sorry you are going through all of this. I just know it will all come together. Take a deep breath, grab a tropical cocktail and be on Island Time yourself. :)

  • Ahhh, thanks for the reminder.  Our color theme is peacock blue...we were going to test out the famous Bue Hawaiian drink.  Will be one of 2 featured drinks offered, the other of course being Mai tais:)

  • I'm sure everything will workout with everyone! I'm impatient also, if I don't get an email within 24 hours I think they forgot but I'm learning other people are busy besides me!
