Decatur, Cullman, Huntsville and Madison Area

Does anyone have any suggestions on wedding venues.  We are getting married 11/12/11 and I want the ceremony and reception in the same area.  I dont want to have it at a church.  I have checked around with alot of place but I am very picky.  Any help with anything in these areas would be great!!

Where have you already looked? I would suggest looking into Annabella at Cedar Glen, Burritt on the Mountain, Monte Sano Lodge, Huntsville Botanical Garden, Alabama Constitution Village, The Ledges, or some of the historic houses like Weeden House Museum or Humphrey-Rodgers House depending on how big your guestlist is. Girl I know got married at a beautiful place called Madelyn's in the Grove, but I don't know much about it. All of these places should let you have the ceremony and reception in the same place.

If you wanted to stay near Decatur, I know both Decatur's country clubs (Burningtree and Decatur) host weddings and receptions, even if you're not a member. I'm from Hartselle, and I want mine to be near my home church, so those are the options I'm limited to for indoor receptions. I looked at a lot of the Huntsville venues mentioned above and many are beautiful indoor & outdoor venues.

Another tip... look at local photographer's websites for venue locations - that's where I found a lot of creative ideas.

Ive been at a wedding at Madelyns in the grove.  Its beautiful but i didnt make that one of my choices because of that.  Annabella is booked for my date.  Ive checked into alot of those places just havent nailed down which one I want.  The problem is even though its in Novemeber alot of places are already booked! Thanks for the tips ladies.  I am in Decatur also and would love something close as possible just a little different and something I love.

I have noticed that a good portion of the wedding venues in the Huntsville area are homes? I am just curious if this is typical.

Yes, a lot of them are homes. There are some museums and a couple golf courses, but that's about it. There's not much in this area.

OP, I noticed you already have a specific date set but you don't have a venue booked? Is there a particular reason you want that specific date?

Good luck! I hope you find something soon that isn't booked, it can be tough.

i chose that date because it worked for all of us.  Our family is all over the place we have one in college that has to be at all home football games because shes in the color guard we have family out of town and as sad as it sounds im a huge football fan along with the rest of my family and his and both alabama and auburn play away that weekend!
I am going to look at a few places this weekend and hopefully will have something booked by then!

My cousin had her wedding at Athens State University. Her wedding was outside in front of founders hall (The BIG white building) and had the reception in the ballroom which is behind Founder's hall. You could also have your reception outside in the patio area. I would drive over and just walk around the campus. Its small for a college but the old architecture is beautiful.

I'm actually getting marrid at Athens State in May. We are getting married outside in front of Founder's Hall, its very pretty, but for your date that would probably be too cold. I like the old historical look, so I looked at older places. We also checked out the Hartselle Fine Arts Center, very pretty I think.. I loved it, and I think gave me a price of $225 for the whole day to rent. May not be your style though! http://hartsellefineartscenter.com/facility.html

Try the Magnolia Room...they were at the Bridal Fair and it seemed nice -- also the Movie place in Decatur around the corner from the Brick does receptions!

There's also Sykes Place in Decatur...my cousin had her reception there but the ceremony was in a church across from it so I don't know aout non-church ceremony places close...I know there has to be something though
