I've been lurking around a bit, but I thought it was time I introduced myself properly. So hello! FI and I live in North Carolina, but will be getting married in Ames (where I grew up) in June. It's been a bit of a challenge planning stuff long-distance, but it's slowly coming together. So hurray for central Iowa weddings!

Thank you! We're getting married at the ISU Memorial Union. Just finalized our officiant and are working on the photographer now. Also working on the catering menu.

We got engaged this past July, and weren't sure at first where to have the wedding. FI had never been to Iowa before, and wasn't sure how he felt about having the wedding there, but I took him to visit and he was sold!

Yay!! That is awesome, I haven't had a chance to see Memorial Union. Are you having the reception there as well?

Yes, both ceremony and reception - and there's also a hotel in the union where we're going to reserve a block of rooms, so people can just go from the ceremony to the reception and then stumble up to their rooms without having to worry about driving. It's great esp. because all of our guests will be coming from out of town.
