size of invite

Ok, so I'm looking to get my invites letterpress printed and I was just wondering about the size of the actual invite panel. I'm wanted to put the invites into a pocketfold that'll measure 5x7 so I can fit it into an A7 envelope. Since it's letterpress you can only get them printed on like an A7 or A6 sizes. If i do the 5x7 there won't be any space around the invite when i mount it but I'm wondering if A6 (which is 4 5/8" by 6 1/4") would look really small? TIA

My modified pocketfolds were 5x7, but the actual invites were smaller than that and mounted on. You could always mount a backer paper behind the invite to create a border and minimize the gap between. Otherwise, run with the gap and make the margins not too close to the edge of the invite - the gap could work for you :) Ask your designer to create a mock-up - it's easy to think just based on the measurements that it won't look good, but you might actually like it when you see it. I am at work and don't have my invitation here to measure, but I also would recommend doing the smaller size with a contrasting layer mounted between the invite and the pocketfold.  That is what I did.  Another reason to do that is I am afraid if you did the exact same size for both the pocketfold would not actually fold up easily.  The creases would be too thick from the extra piece of paper stuck in there. I'm putting together my invitations right now and if I get the mat layer (between invite & pocketfold) too close to the creases, it does exactly that. Plus the extra layer looks pretty :)
