PSA: Going to Vegas? Don't stay at NY/NY hotel (LONG)

Hi Ladies!

Wanted to just throw out a PSA about our recent trip to Vegas!

We did a 'girls trip' which turned into a super fun, bachelorette quickly. Lol. BUT, unfortunately we had some issues with our hotel, New York New York. Here were our issues:

From the time it took us to get to the hotel, check in our bags to concierge and have them brought to our room (never do this) - we found over $400 missing in jewelry from my friend's bag. We had just checked it when we got our bags so it must have been the bag service. So dissappointing. We filed a police report and report with the hotel, (which 1 week later - we have still heard nothing).

After this craziness - I flagged down a house keeping lady and asked her for a "Privacy Please" door hanger since we didn't want anyone else from the hotel in the room. When we got back from dinner and some sight seeing of the strip (1am), we found our door deadbolted open w/ the privacy sign on the door. No one needed to be in our room and we had double/triple/quadruple checked that it was locked when we left. After looking through our things, we found that we were missing cash. About $100 from one friend (her wallet was laying out) and a pair of earings.

We immediately went downstairs after searching top to bottom our room, to report the SECOND incident within 4 hours. They were so rude I can't tell you. Sometimes I feel the wrath of being a woman from certain people... but like to give people the benefit of the doubt... these people however, looked at us like we were uneducated and just stupid. We filed another report (again... still have heard nothing).

Then we switched rooms and got a privacy sign again.. made sure there was a safe as well.

The next few days were great, no one entered our new room.

Upon check out I asked to speak w/ a manager to explain our situation with her to see if we could be compensated at all for our losses with the cost of the hotel or any incentives... she looked at me and said "I know who you are, and no unless you want to sign a release that releases us from all of your charges, then we can give you $50 off the room" I was speachless. Such a big disappointment. The management was horrible. She never apologized and again made me feel horrible. Just thought i'd share - I know Vegas is a hot-spot for bachelorette/bachelor parties.

Oh and WATCH YOUR DRINKS! We were fine and safe, but saw some not so great examples there! :)

Okay, that's my rant... be safe ladies! Suggs of where to stay in Vegas: Venetian, The Palms, Caesars Palace, Bellagio. :)

xo

Holy crap that sucks. I wonder how often they have theft at their hotel?

I stayed at Monte Carlo and had a great experience there. I just can't believe you guys got hit twice. :( Hopefully you still had a great time

There is a lot of theft that occurs in vegas, but lesson learned, keep all valuables with you at all times. Sucks that you have to go through this!  What were some of your favs during your trip?

Favs = The Palms GhostBar & Playboy club. :) also loved the lights show and the Bellagio is GORGEOUS. The Palms was just awesome though. My aunt knows the old owner of all the clubs so we had a great time and no waits! :)

Places I could have skipped: The Bank (Bellagio) & Tao was neat but small VIP area. (we got  on a list randomly).

I'm so sorry! Unfortunetly the cheaper hotels are usually where bad things happen. I live in Vegas now and since the economy is so horrible out here I'm sure it pushes people to do horrible things. Hopefully the rest of your trip was enjoyable

@KristiGiles - Honestly, I would advise to stay elsewhere! They are owned by the same company as the MGM! You could transfer your reservation potentially?? Otherwise... just be sure to put all of your valuables in a Safe!!! Try to stay in the Chrysler tower too!!! NOT the Century tower (Chrysler is more secluded). :)
