XP: Dyed Crinoline Help

Hope someone can help! I'm thinking of purchasing a used crinoline that has been dyed fuchsia. This isn't a problem by itself--I would like to re-dye it to a dark purple color.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea or even an educated guess on how much the fuchsia will factor into the dyeing process. The RIT website says 32oz of navy blue and 32oz of purple to make the color I want. But I'm wondering how much that will change since the garment is already fuchsia. I'm thinking maybe just use 8oz or 16oz of purple and 32oz of navy blue.

Thoughts? Ideas? Pandas?

HKiesling did this, and I know she had an awesome how-to in her bio. I think she still posts over on TN. I'll see if I can find her bio and PM you the link :)

    ETA: here it is.

Can you cut a little piece of it off and try it first? I would think you could get a small swatch of the material out of the middle to do a test dye. Or figure out how you would make fucia and then subtract those numbers from the purple recipe... assuming it would work that way!
