Lady business...gahhh

So, under my mother's advice I looked ahead and planned my wedding about the
2nd week after my period.  I figure at this point my face will be clear and I won't be overly bloated.  We just booked our honeymoon, and I did not even think about this until today-right smack dab in the middle of my period.  AHHH!!!!  What a drag!Yell

I am wondering if any of you have tried the pill that you only get your period three times a year??  I also have heard of girls just skipping the 'reminder' pills and restarting a whole new cycle.  I will obviously contact my OB/GYN, but was just wondering if you have any suggestions.  Thanks ladies!

You can skip your placebo pills/skip your period and shorten your cycle by a week each time you do that.  Haven't done it, but others have and it's worked for them.

I've gone back-to-back with my Nuva Ring and had zero issues. (Same as skipping the placebo pills.) My OB/GYN assured me that it's totally safe.

My doc said it's the exact same thing (and cheeper) to just skip the placebo pills with normal birth control.  She said it's safe to do it as long as you want.  I take my placebo and get my period every 3 months, but she says she has other patients who go 6-9 months?? That would freak me out too much though ;)

I've skipped the placebo pills before but I did have spotting for a day or 2 so just be prepared in case that does happen, it won't be a full on period though.

Yes, it works. Although I had the same spotting experience as Golden when I skipped my placebo pills. I even had some additional spotting issues when I went back to my normal schedule. Was totally worth it though

I've skipped the placebo pills before for reasons similar to that and it worked just fine for me. I had a much "rougher" period with awful cramps the next time I had my period, though, so be prepared for that possibility

This is exactly what I do.  My insurance doesn't cover the name brand for the 4x a year pill.  My OB just prescribes the regular pills and writes the scrip for a few extra so it still lasts as long but its much, much cheaper.  I do occasionally get spotting (especially the first couple months) but nothing compared to a normal period.

I'm glad you asked this because I've never skipped my placebo pills and have been wondering about that!  Some people mentioned having spotting... does that happen every month or if I start doing that a couple months before the wedding will it decrease?  I'm just curous, obviously its better than a regluar period.

Thanks ladies!  I think maybe I will give it a trial run this spring-and talk to my doctor too.  Thanks again!

I have done both- skipped placebo pills and done the three months bc pill. I had spotting after about a month and a half with both. The spotting ended up turning into a full fledged period so I gave up. I felt like I was having PMS after a month and a half too... kinda defeated the purpose for me. It's worth a try tho!

I have run into this a few times, you just have something going on and dont feel like getting your period.

I just take the last pill of the month a little bit earlier than I usually do in the day, and then instead of taking the placebo bills, I just continue onto the next pack.  It works well.

I would suggest trying to do this once before your honeymoon so you can sort of get your body used to it.

    Good luck!

gahhhh!  Haven't been on the pill in years....and we would like to start kinda "trying" soon after the wedding.......but lately I've been irregular...I'm also afraid I'll either have it on the wedding or at our honeymoon two weeks later.....oh the joys of no control!!! LOL
