Ethnic food

DH and I have been wanting to expand our gastronomic horizons, but we want to make sure that if we venture away from our normal places that the food will be good. We are particularly interested in Thai and Indian food since our Gordon Ramsay marathons. Does anyone have any good local restaurant suggestions? Thank you!

Everest on Grand is excellent Nepali food. It's similar to Indian food (lots of curries on the menu), but has some other specialties. We took friends there in July who wanted to try something new and they loved it.

Total dive location but Taste of Thailand on White Bear Ave and I-94 is really good.  I also am a huge fan of India Palace.  There are several locations now but I've tried both the Roseville and Woodbury locations and have been totally happy.

I like Taste of India in Saint Louis Park (near West End) and there are SO many good Thai places here.  Sawadtee, Chaing Mai Thai, Amazing Thailand... nom nom nom! :)

    I'll ditto Taste of India.

If you want to try other stuff- there's a fantastic Vietnamese place over by us in Brooklyn Park (on the corner of Xerxes and 85th., Than Vi.

I also recommend Ethopian food :)  There's a really good place in Midway, St Paul.  It's called Fasika and it's on the corner of University and Snelling.

Uptown has a plethora of awesome Thai places... all within a couple blocks of each other. I have yet to try one I didn't like.

Also, one of my random favorites is this Thai restaurant called "Spice" in Savage. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall but their food is amazing.

I'm also pretty obsessed with good Indian food... and so far, my faves in the Twin Cities are the Taste of India on Rockford Rd in Plymouth (btw, not all "Taste of India"s are created equal...) and Curry N' Noodles in Hopkins.

I can't remember the name of it, but there's a smaller Indian restaurant on 7 corners in Minneapolis (by the U of M).   I will also second Chiang Mai Thai in Uptown.  I don't know a lot of other Indian/Thai restaurants, but BONA on the U of M Campus (Washington Ave) has really good Vietnamese food (and it's budget friendly too).  It's probably one of my favorite restaurants.  I recommend the "H"

Thank you everyone! We will look into them! We'd always wondered about the India Palace in Roseville since it is so close-- glad to hear that it was good!

Another vote for Taste of India and Sawahtdee (sp?) -- I like the Uptown location the best...

Also Tandoor is pretty good. They're right by Southtown Center in Bloomington. Om nom nom!

I'll second Sawatdee for excellent Thai food! I live in St. Cloud and eat at the one there constantly! But I know they have a few locations in the cities as well
