Lafayette Club - Ceremony/Reception

I know I said I was done asking about venues...but I lied! Wink  Please tell me your experience with them.  So far Brenda has answered all of my questions but just worried about a lot of hidden fees.  TIA!!!!

My FSIL had her reception there this last September. It was a really beautiful reception site and they did a great job with the food and wait staff. I'm not sure about hidden fees or anything like that but I know that they ask for a lot of the amount up front, they had to pay like $5000 not too long after signing the contract.

Did you ask them for a contract? It will have any hidden fees in there, you just need to read the fine print. Sorry if I'm not of much help. If you have a more specific question, I can ask my FSIL.

Also, she rented ALL of her linens through a seperate company since she said the linens looked dated and didn't go to the floor. And they do a ticket system for the drinks there, so your guests have to wait in line to purchase tickets, then wait in line to get a drink. I was wedding party so they had seperate tickets for us so we could have free drinks. I remember the drinks were like $7.50.

I was unaware that they allowed ceremonies there.  M and I are going to have our reception there but we have not really gotten into details with them since ours is in late 2011.  My aunt had her reception there two years ago, and while it was great and beautiful, she was a little disappointed with how they forgot to tell her somethings, like how there was a minimum for an appetizer only meal during dinner hour.  It cost them like 2000 extra at the last minute. Also, like how for every certain amount of people, you have to get a valet for a fee.  At her wedding tho, there was not a ticket system for drinks, which they have probably changed since then.  Hope that helps.

I've been to two weddings there, both friends from high school (went to Orono). They didn't have a ticket system at either that I went to, although both times they ran out of the signature drink pretty quickly.

The MOB from one of the weddings is my DOC, and she mentioned that there were a lot of extra fees there.. I think it ended up being more than they had planned. It's definitely a beautiful site, though, if it's the style that you're looking for.

I'm not sure what else to mention, but if you'd like me to ask either of the brides any questions, I'd be happy to e-mail them and get back to you! Page me on the Etiquette board if you'd like me to do this.

I just got married there this September. Brenda was awesome. There were fees, but nothing 'hidden'. I made sure to ask on each topic if there were any other charges. She really worked with me to make sure I used my budget wisely. Let me know if you have any questions about the club. I had my ceremony there as well. Also, I did my own centerpieces and I have the vases for sale on my for sale bio. They look great in the ballroom. If you do use the club I highly reccomend Kelly Brown Photography!! We loved her!

    Good Luck
