Marriage license witnesses?

We are considering asking two other bridal party members besides the MOH and BM to sign the marriage license with us, for a few reasons.  First, this couple, a bridesmaid and groomsmen, introduced us and have been there with us literally from the moment we met.  Out of anyone in our bridal party, we spend the most time with this couple and really find them to be great role models for a successful marriage.  We also want to honor them in some way because they aren't the MOH/BM, aren't giving a speech, etc, but they out of everyone have probably been the most influential in our relationship.  Any thoughts?  I don't think that the MOH or BM would be at all offended by not being asked to witness, so I'm not concerned about that.  But is it traditional that only the MOH/BM get to sign the marriage license?

TIA!

I think it is fine to have someone else other than you MOH/BM sign. We just grabbed whoever was closest to sign ours... If I were a MOH I would be kind of relieved to not have to sign it...

Agreed, I don't think it really matters. Just make sure your officiant knows beforehand that you plan to have someone else sign it so it doesn't become a possibly awkward situation if the MOH/BM is asked to sign it.

We had 2 attendants on each side, DH's two best friends (he's an only child) and my 2 sisters and we didn't make any designations of Best Man or Maid of Honor.  We just had Bridesmaids and Groomsmen.  All 4 of them signed the papers.  I think that you have more than one line on them unless things have changed!
