NWR - Pop Rocks

Hi, everyone.  This totally has nothing to do with weddings, but where, oh where, can a person go to find a packet of Pop Rocks in this century?  I want to get some to experiment with in truffles, but I haven't been able to find any.  I'd love to see how they hold up in ganache.  Wouldn't it be cool to bite into a chocolate and have it pop and crackle in your mouth?

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe a candy shop?  Amazon has them, too.

Oh gosh I know I have seen them in the cities!!  Let me think.... I'm actually pretty sure I saw them at Delia's - yes the clothing store... also try the CandyLand downtown.  Otherwise, oldtimecandy.com!  I have been doing a lot of candy browsing online for our wedding candy bar :)

I think they are still readily available -- Even Claire's has them, oddly.

I am REALLY curious to see if your pop rock truffles turn out! That would be seriously awesome and I would love to copy you after you put in the work to test it. ;)

When I worked at Michaels they always had them in stock. Pretty odd place to go for candy, but why not?

I was just at a Walgreen's yesterday looking for them, but no dice.  Maybe because it was the St. Paul one.  St. Paul stores tend to be weird compared to other areas.

It figures that Target would have them, because I'm boycotting.  Actually, I think I might call off the boycott since Dayton basically won the election and Target has learned it's lesson.  I haven't been there in at least 4 months.

I'm going to check out the Candyland in St. Paul tomorrow, since I need to go to my bank, which is across the street.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!  I'll let you all know how it goes and how well they hold up to ganache.  For moisture-sensitive flavorings, I usually try to let the plain ganache set up before mixing the flavors in so they don't melt from the heat and fluidity of the ganache (toffee does this), and then only do them in small batches that I'm going to serve quickly.  This will be Flavor #32 for the season, and I've got a couple more I want to try (cashew and rum raisin).
