Just a ceremony venue

My fiancé and I are having trouble finding a site for just our ceremony. We are not religious at all so a church is out of the question for us and all we seem to be finding are city parks, which are an option but I am wondering if any one knows of some different options we could be looking at in the twin cities metro area?

There are several parks in the metro area that allow ceremonies like Minnehaha Falls and Centennial Lakes.

Also The Walker Art Center, Como Conservatory and the Arboretum do ceremonies.

How many people are you looking to host?

Have you chosen a reception site yet? I think most reception sites will allow you do the ceremony on site, maybe for a small fee.  That's how we did ours, because we didn't want to use a church either.

The Washington County Historic Courthouse in Stillwater does ceremonies only.  I think it is about $1,000 and the nice thing about it is that you have an outdoor location and an indoor location in case of bad weather.

The Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul has small courtrooms that can be rented by the hour for a ceremony.   They are beautiful and several sizes are available.  www.landmarkcenter.org

The Lyndale Rose Garden! It is beautiful. My parents were married there and my fiance and I took our engagement pics there.

We are doing ours in the a garden at Bracketts Crossing Golf Club- fee is $500 plus chair rental, it might be a little more private than the city parks where you can't really controll who is there

We're having ours at Cowles Conservatory at the Walker Sculpture Garden.  You can get a time block for either 9-12 or 12-3 for $500.  After 3:00, you have to rent the space for a reception, too, and I believe it's $1,000.  The downside is that you can only use the benches they provide that seat up to about 30 people, and bring in no more than 10 chairs extra.  They're run by the Mpls Parks Board, so you'll deal with them for your permit.

Also, once you've got your permit, the building is closed off to visitors, so privacy isn't an issue unless people stop at the windows and gawk at you.  That's one of the things that sold it for us, plus the space is really unique and you don't need a rain plan since it's all indoors.  Oh, and the permit includes photos in the sculpture garden during your allotted time, which could make for some really special pictures.
