Rehearsal Dinner Locations - Downtown MPLS

Hey all,

We're now on the prowl for rehearsal dinner locations downtown which won't break the bank. We're going to have about 150 people, and we're totally OK not having a sit-down dinner. In fact, we'd rather do something more informal like drinks and heavy appetizers. Ideas?

We are having ours at Pizza Luce, they have a new banquet room (not sure how many it can hold), but I like the fact that it is completely private and you have your own bar and pizza/pasta buffet...and it's delish :)  I think the min is $700.

There is a really cool dance studio located off the cobblestone alley behind Bar Lurcat (right on the edge of downtown).  It is a bit like a loft space with hardwood floors, chandeliers and groupings of couches for lounging.  It is a cool, unique space and is VERY affordable to rent.  They let you bring in alcohol and food or you can have it catered. I rented it for my graduation party in May and it was perfect.
Here is a link to their website:

Woah. 150 for your RD? How big is your whole wedding guest list? Fun!

We originally looked at Solera, but we had about about 75 on the list. I think they have other, larger rooms too. It was pretty pricey from what I remember, but it's such a cool atmosphere!  Tapas and sangria? yes please.

I second Pizza Luce downtown :-)

If you'd be willing to go to uptown, Chino Latino might be a fun place to hold an RD too.

I think Britts would be a great place to do it. Also, Seven has some great rental spaces and a great roofdeck as well. I am working with them on an event for my work and they seem to be pretty flexbile on things but ours is also a short event earlier in the evening. Buca would also probably be pretty affordable

That's exactly what I was thinking!

I ditto the Pizza Luce vote.

I know...insane guest count, right? We're only expecting 165 at the wedding, but about 85% of those people are out-of-town guests or in-town family, so they all have to come. I'm hoping we end up with less!

Thanks so much for the recommendations!

Rock Bottom Brewery is also pretty yummy and right downtown--I checked and they have a room that can accomodate a group of 150... I don't know their prices but I do know the food is great!

All of the suggestions sound great, IMO. Just a note on the OOT issue and RDs, we had a like 90% OOT guest list, and we kept the RD to just closer family (immediate, aunts, uncles, grandparents, close cousins) and the bridal party, cutting it down significantly to about 40 people. Unless you have rediculously huge families and are super close woth everyone, you may wanna rethink your list to open up your options (and budget!) for the RD. We had invited about 60 to the RD, and many people weren't going to be in town until later in the evening anyway, so decided not to go.

How about the new Keirans location. We are having ours there and LOVE it. I think it would be a pretty cool place for you guys, and pretty casual.

Lurcat has a private space?  I'm hoping to talk FMIL into at least looking at Lurcat, just for the sliders alone.  It's also right across Hennepin from our venue.

Sorry, I'm not of much help.  I can name a ton of restaurants, but I don't know if any of them can accomodate such a huge group.
