Check: Pick-your-own-dress BM dresses

Ladies, today is a momentous occasion. (Ha!) My goal of each bridesmaid picking her own dress from one fabric/color/designer is finally complete. PIB of the dresses (all will be floor length black poly chiffon). I thought I'd share this tidbit because I know that some other Knotties had questions about going that route... so I'll tell you how we finally wrangled seven women into one dress order:

* We chose Jasmine Bridal (B2 and Belsoie) as the designer because they had the biggest selection of dresses, plus they're able to take ANY dress style and convert it to the fabric you want (e.g., any satin dress can be ordered in chiffon).

* My bridesmaids tried on styles at different shops (some in the Twin Cities, some in Wisconsin) but the order for the dresses was placed through Dena Marie Bridal in Roseville. I chose Dena Marie because they weren't pushy (and they didn't jam four bridesmaids into one teeny tiny dressing room like another well-known bridal shop did). Kirsten at Dena Marie is a fantastic resource - she explained the ordering process clearly and was very accommodating about answering my questions.

* The most difficult part of the process was narrowing it down to one designer - it took three shopping trips to finally make a decision. I think it's worth the extra chaos though - it was nearly impossible to find a dress that suited all of the bridesmaids, and this way they will all feel foxy.

If you choose to have your maids pick their own and it starts to stress you out, just breathe! It can be done.

I LOVE the dresses! We're going with Jasmine too, I think, and I was planning on asking them all to wear the same one but there were so many styles there that I loved that I may let them pick so I can get a variety of those gorgeous looks!

Love those dresses!  Glad to see how it all worked out!

BTW I am in love with your inspiration boards.  It is actually quite erie to look down the page & see the same ideas/inspirations that I have been gathering!  Is that scary?

Total sidenote, but this is too weird.... My "bio" doesn't show it b/c I don't have an official bio webpage & I couldn't make a nice inspiration board.... but I, too, want an old hollywood, elegant glamour feel, some black & white & pewter ornate decor things, birdcage veil, sweetheart neckline...

Which program should I use to make an inspiration board?  (PM me with any advice.) I tried to make one on theknot & found it frustrating... so I wanted to save & come back to it, but it locked the project w/only 2 images in it!

I'm glad to see someone going the more modern route of not having everyone look exactly the same :-D :-D

I'm going with floor length black dresses as well! Great minds think alike!

To me it just makes sense to have the BMs pick out their dress in some way- whether it be color or style. After all, they'll be the one wearing it- not you :-)

That's what I'm letting my maids do too, plus all of them have completely different body types and 2 of my maids happen to be 6 feet tall.

<div>THIS exactly. Two of mine are 6'0", two are 5'2", the rest are in the middle. Some are "apples", some are hourglasses, one is an inverted triangle (all chest)... yeah. The one-dress route was difficult.</div>

I was just looking through your bio, and this made me literally laugh out loud..

"Things I would like if the world were perfect:

    1. A letterpress paper suite
    2. With pockets
    3. Or a strong will to DIY my paper goods
    4. And a unicorn and glitter and rainbows and world peace"

So funny.  And EXACTLY how I feel.
