You might want to check out Sarah Ciccone. She's from the cities, but I know she loves the north shore, so she may be totally willing to go to Duluth for a wedding. She's ultra affordable and does amazing work. She did our wedding and epics, and we absolutely love them and loved working with her. I highly recommend her!

kbell747 just posted her vendor reviews from her wedding on an old thread of mine and she used Derek Montgomery out of Duluth. He looks like an amazing photographer. I have sent him an email already! I have also been impressed with Biff Ulm. On the lower end of the cost spectrum Matt Carr, Brett Groehler, Max Caven and Alan Johnson. Those are the only ones I have right in front of me that I have heard back from but there are more out there. I would try to find someone local before having a metro photographer travel. I am doing my wedding in Two Harbors so I have been trying to keep it local so I don't have to pay mileage and hotel lodging for all of my vendors. (All of those names should be hyperlinked and I do not have personal experience with any of them).

My photographer (Ben Berndt Photography) does weddings in both the Twin Cities and Duluth!  His parents have a cabin on the North Shore which he enjoys going to with his family, so wouldn't charge any extra for travel in all likelihood.  He's $1800 for 10 hours in 2011 right now... He photgraphed a wedding there this past summer and it turned out beautifully.  My fiance an I really enjoyed doing our engagement photos with him and are looking forward to our wedding next May. Check out his website and blog!

I second the Sarah Ciccone post!  We didn't end up going with her just because we got such an amazing deal with the photog we did go with, but Sarah was super friendly and I love her photos! We met her after coming down from the North Shore for the weekend and I remember her telling us how much she loves it up there! I'd check her out!

    <div>Ditto this. </div><div>
</div><div>Derek Montgomery is basically pure photojournalism. <a href="http://www.drockphoto.com/">http://www.drockphoto.com/</a></div><div>
</div><div>Biff Ulm from VADA Photography was our photographer. He used to live in Duluth and does tons of Duluth/North Shore weddings. And I love love love love love him. He is AMAZING. <a href="http://www.vada-voom.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.vada-voom.com</a></div><div>
</div><div>Also check out Clint Austin and Tim Larsen (<a href="http://tim-larsen.com/blog/">http://tim-larsen.com/blog/</a>). </div><div>
</div><div>Duluth and the shore both have so many nooks and crannies - I'd definitely look for a photographer who has lots of experience there. (Ask to see examples!)</div>
