Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Need decent priced reception site/thinking outdoors, help pls!

Hi there - I'm a newbie and just getting some ideas.  We are getting married in Vegas but we are now thinking of still having a reception in MN, about 100-150 people.  I am thinking outdoors, casual, bbqish where we can bring in our own food.  Needs to be able to have alcohol and loud music not be a problem as we want a dj.  Our ceremony will be April of 2011 but reception will either be spring or Summer, not sure.

Thanks much in advance!

check out Uppercut Boxing gym in NE Mpls. They have an outdoor "courtyard" that is super casual! The indoor and outdoor space are both awesome, and you can bring your own liquor and caterer.

Try Highland Park in St. Paul.  My friend had her reception there in May, and it was a lot of fun. Big outdoor pavilion, space for a caterer, allowed cans I think, and all worked out well.  The site books up quickly, but it's only available to book starting 1/1 of the year you're looking at.  My friend went early the  morning the lottery opened up and got the date she wanted.

FYI - not many places besides your own backyard will allow you to bring your own food.  It's more of a health-liability thing - caterers are licensed and have insurance if someone got sick, whereas you do not, putting the venue in an awkward position.  Instead, try using Bellagala's venue finder where you can bring your own caterer.  You can choose from a wide range of prices/styles by bringing in a caterer, plus you/your family won't be stuck with the work of cooking (or the liability!).   HTH
