Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Who is officiating your ceremony?

FI and I think we have our ceremony and reception sites picked out, and so our next steps are to look at photographers and ceremony officiants.  I have a ton of photographer websites saved, but no clue where to start to look for an officiant.

We are looking to have an outdoor, civil ceremony that we'd like to create mostly on our own.  Can you recommend anyone?  Also, what price range should I be expecting for a judge or JOP?  I haven't been able to figure that part of my budget out because I had no clue what to expect.

Thanks ladies!

Check out Judge Armstrong.  We called him about our wedding, but he was booked already.  His website gives lots of good information.

We're having a close friend officiate. he was ordained online (free) and it's about $5 to file with the county to be authorized to conduct marriages. i'm really excited about it!

Rev Harvey Markland will be officiating our wedding. His website is http://www.minnesotaweddingceremony.com.
We know him on a personal level, so we have been to a wedding he has officiated. He really has a gift for it, and is very willing to make your wedding exactly how you want it.

I have these bookmarked but haven't looked further yet:

I found Briana Melom (sp?) & Reverend Tomkin Coleman (www.mnweddingminister.com - lots of other wedding info, too) online, but haven't looked further...

FI really wants a JOP, so I assigned FI the job of finding a JOP, oh, about 3 months ago, and he claims that he can't find a list of judges who do this... so if someone has one, please share! :)

We were able to get Judge Thomas G. Armstrong.  He can do multiple weddings a day, if they aren't too far away from one another.  And we like him a lot!  his website is REALLY helpful when getting the ceremony wording together.

Mark Bomchill is doing ours!  He's awesome!  I'd recommend him.

We're having my BFF/MOH's husband get ordained online.  They're in California, so I'm going to have to register him in MN/Hennepin.  Since FI and I are both anti-chuch (I'm an atheist) and want someone who knows us to do the ceremony our way, we feel most comfortable with him.  It also helps that it'll be free.  I may pay to fly them in and they'll probably stay at our house, so I'm not planning to pay him on top of that, not that he'd probably even accept it if we offered.

I've read that officiant fees can run about $500, and then sometimes you are also expected to tip over that.

Jim Albani! He's great, we just met with him this past Saturday. He's a minister, but is super laid back and is officiating our nonreligious cermeony
