Newbie Intro

I have posted on a couple threads and decided that it is only polite to introduce myself, so here I go! My FI and I are doing everything completely backwards. He saved up and bought a house for us, then we put a deposit down on our honeymoon, which selected our wedding date (10/12/12) by default! We will be getting married and having our reception at the Olde Gahanna Sanctuary, which I am so thrilled with. I grew up in Cincinnati attending a historic Methodist church, so finding this venue was a godsend for me. It was the first place I found that felt like the venue I had always dreamed of as a little girl, but at a price I can afford and the flexibility to bring in my own catering and alcohol.

I am on a strict budget for our wedding, so I am ever on the lookout for a good deal. I became enamored of recycledbride.com yesterday, and plan on combing through the classifieds here later. I am considering some slightly unusual catering options. We are having a friday night wedding with a cocktail reception, so we are just serving a wide selection of hor'duerves. So I have been looking at upscale groceries like Weiland's and Whole foods for catering.

More than anything else though, I am just so excited about the reason I am here!!!!!

Congrats on the engagement, and welcome to the board!

Where are you going on your honeymoon?  (I'm also getting married in October, and we still need to pick a HM destination!)

TheBeckmeister- We are going on a 7 night "Exotic" Western Carribean cruise on Carnival. I was really surprised that Carnival got higher marks for this particular route than some of the others. I always thought of Carnival as being kind of the low-rent line. But the revies on Tripadvisor were pretty positive, and it;s a cool itinerary. It goes to Cozymel, Belize, Roatan (Honduras) and Grand Cayman. My folks are cruise vetrans, and did this cruise a year or so ago, and Mom said Roatan was her favorite destination she has ever been to in the carribean, was still pretty pristine.

At any rate, we found a fare sale that we jumped on, where we get 7 nights in a suite, and 3 nights free hotel before or after the cruise, and it was $929 a person plus fees and taxes. Was way better price than we found anywhere else, and we knew we wanted to get married in October, so that pretty much settled it. We booked through Priceline, which is what got us the free hotel nights. Only downside is you have to use the nights consecutively, can break them up before and after the cruise. But they don't expire 'til the end of the year, so we are thinking we will probably use them for a long weekend getaway at some point between the wedding and new years!
