Hair - What do I do?!?

I'm really having a tough time deciding whether or not to do onsite hair for me, my gals, my mom, FMIL and our two flower girls. We'll be staying at the Marriott by the airport, and they have free shuttles to the MOA, so I thought it would be fun to go to a salon there to all get our hair done.

... but I also like the idea of being able to stay put in the bridal suite to get ready. The problem is, we have so many girls! There will be 11 total, including BMs, my mom, FMIL and the flower girls (which their mom requested be included -- she's a BM and can't really manage doing both their hair that day).

For those of you who have had onsite hair and make-up -- will it work in a hotel room (a suite, so more room than normal)? I suppose the girls could just hang out in their rooms until it's their turn.

I'm also really confused about how it works. If you've got a lot of people to do, do they send out a lot of stylists? Or just a couple to go through everyone gradually?

Sorry this is so long - I'm pretty lost on this one.

I have 11 people (me, 7 BMs, 2 FGs, MOB) getting hair and make-up done on-site by Smart and Chic.  I honestly wasn't sure if it would work but they assured me it would here is what they gave me for a timeline. We are doing it in a 3 room executive suite at our hotel.

    Stylist #1

    7:30 – 8:15 – BM (hair)

    8:15 – 9:00 – BM (hair)

    9:00 – 10:30 – Bride (Hair and makeup)

    10:30 – 11:00 – FG (hair)

    Stylist #2

    7:30 – 8:15 – BM (hair)

    8:15 – 9:00 – BM (hair)

    9:00 – 9:45 – BM (hair)

    9:45 – 10:30 – BM (hair)

    10:30 – 11:00 – FG (hair)

    Stylist #3

    7:30-8 :00 – BM (makeup)

    8:00 – 8:30 – BM (makeup)

    8:30 – 9:00 – BM (makeup)

    9:00 – 9:30 – BM (makeup)

    9:30 – 10:00 – MOB (makeup)

    10:00 – 10:30 – BM (makeup – maybe)

@esmurphy - what time of day is your wedding? Just curious - mine is at 5:30 but we're starting pics probably around 3:00.

Ceremony starts 1:30 pictures start at 11.  The groomsmen/FI will start right at 11 and we hope to leave the site by 11 and get there 11:15.  Also I forgot that a few of the girls are only doing hair or only doing makeup so it isn't quite even.

I had the girls (who wanted to) and moms make appointments at the salon across the street at 8:30, then I had mine at 9:30 at the hotel with the FG. Worked great for us, everyone done on time/fast, and I still got my special time in the suite with all the ladies.

I am doing onsite hair and now kinda wish that I wasn't. I know they will do a great job, but I did not consider the timing. Because they send one stylist (I am having hair and makeup and my 3 bridesmaids are having just hair...so you'd probably get 2 stylists, but still)....We have to be there at 8:15 and will be doing hair until Noon.  If we went to a salon, we'd each get our own stlyst and only be there about an hour and a half. It makes for a really really early morning to get to the hotel by 8:00 to beat the hairstylist there...so that's just one thing to consider. I was all excited about the convenience and am obviously still excited for the experience...but I hadn't considered the timing.

I voted for onsite, can you ask S&C or other places if it will work for them? I'm sure you get get a suite and have peeps come and go as they need to. They probably do this kind of thing a lot and will have a good idea of how it works (hopefully)!

@LittleSweetie - I LOVE that you got your hair done with the FG! That must have been such an exciting thing for her, and fun for you, too!

    @KKaew -- what is "S&C"?

    Thanks, everyone!

My usual hair dresser, from Cole's Salon in Burnsville, will be coming to my parent's house (where we will all be getting ready) and doing my hair, my MOH's hair, my 4 BM's hair, my JBM's hair, and my FG's hair. Then, my mom's hair dresser will be coming to our house also to do my mom's hair and everyone else's make-up. It will be busy and hectic, but I would rather get ready somewhere that I am comfortable then a salon.

We had 8 people with S&C.  We did it in my parent’s kitchen.  It is a big kitchen, but people who needed the extra space could roam.  We started at 8:30am and the last girl was finished at 1:00 pm.  They sent one person for hair one person for make-up.

If you have 11 people you might be able to “rent out” a salon if you call early enough.  Some of those smaller salons only hold around 11 people anyway so if you book-up all the people then you will be fine.  If you tell them what they wanted to do they might  make it work out for you like a private salon.

Cool, so it sounds like having people come to YOU has worked out well? My mom is nervous that there won't be enough space and that they won't have all the tools they need (she mentioned shampooing hair, etc ... which I think we can handle doing ourselves, haha).

I don't think you'll be washing your hair that day...in fact, my stylst told me NOT to wash my hair before coming in that morning.  She said I could wash it Friday morning but to come in with "dirty" hair, it holds better I guess.  One of my BMs brought shower caps to use that morning so our hair didn't get wet when we showered. She's one smart cookie, just one of the reasons I love her!

I think you'll be just fine with onsite hair/makeup! I say go for it :)

<div>Yeah, I know that's the general rule, and probably holds true for most people. I, however, have thin hair that gets oily FAST. I've had several updos and every time I haven't washed, it only serves to make things worse. :) But yeah, generally speaking, most people probably won't even need a wash.</div><div>
