Got hitched last weekend. It all turned out beautifully—someone from up above must have asked the big guy to bring spring early for me J We had green leaves and flowers.
I did have my bawl fest over something that wouldn’t matter in an hour though—I turned my white silk train black on my first photo (which was taken before the ceremony). We thought we found a cleanish spot to set the train down and do a little walking for the camera. I turned around after several steps just to check on it and somehow the whole edge of my train and about three inches in had turned black. I was upset at first which put a halt on our already delayed picture taking.
I had a wedding planner and we called her and she sounded like she thought she could clean it up and said she would try when I got to the church. We did some more pictures and just hid my train. However, toward the end of our fun shots I really wanted to get into the church and cleaned before the ceremony. I wasn’t getting to the church fast enough and I started crying….then I got into the church and the wedding planner gave me a “oh crap” face and I started bawling. She never did get it to come off, must be a mold or odd grease, it was not dirt. I had gotten the train lengthened from the designer so we had some room to tuck the train under and that is what we did for the formal pictures and ceremony. Poor poor dress—it really was mean for a long beautiful train. I think we got a couple shots with it down and white though and we may have hidden it well enough for the rest of the pictures. I am anxious to see how they turned out. I guess it is something to remember. It really was the only glitch.
In addition to sharing my wedding day break down, I think it would be fun to share some of my “beauty tips.”
First, when my dress came it didn’t fit very well…I had a back butt crack J I heard a lot of good things about weight loss body wraps—even from my Rocco’s stylist and a cosmetic dermatologist. I never did get around to doing it though—I took water pills while I was at work and lost plenty of weight and looked more flat in the belly. Don’t have water pills? Then I would try the wraps. I think they only last for a couple days so try them earlier to see how they affect you and see how far in advance of your wedding you should do it.
My mom told me my teeth were not white enough so I tried one of those at the mall whiteners where you sit there for a half hour under light. I just did one session three days before the wedding. I didn’t notice much of a difference in person, but other people seemed to. I have seen a couple pictures where I thought they looked pretty white.
I wanted to get waxed. I didn’t shave my legs for three weeks. I have fine blond leg hair and the waxing lady told me my hair was not long/thick enough for a waxing and I would have to shave the strays in a couple days so I didn’t do it. I did get everything else I wanted done two days before the wedding. I got my underarms waxed for the first time. I have pretty dark armpickles and need to shave daily to avoid the “5 o’clock shadow” look. I hadn’t shaved them in two weeks and still the woman told me it would have been better to wait one more week. She did it anyways with a bit of tweezing. It is great—and I didn’t need to shave the whole honeymoon.
I got airbrush foundation and all make-up was waterproof. During my trial run I was thinking I should pay the make-up lady to come do touch-ups throughout the day. Didn’t need it, everything stayed just fine. The foundation didn’t get shiny or flaky and my eyes didn’t run even when I was crying about my dress.
I did want to get a facial a week before the wedding but I forgot to book early so I never got in. I have gotten bad skin in the last couple years. I did go to the dermatologist two months before the wedding. He said he didn’t think I had come in early enough to get my face cleared up with topical medications, but that I could try. He also gave me some pills incase the topical meds didn’t work fast enough. I wanted to avoid the pills (they interact with other meds) but when I used the topical stuff daily my skin was so dry. I started taking the pills and they had me all cleared up in about two weeks. I don’t know what I would have done without them—especially since got so busy and forgot to make my facial appointment made when the time came.
