Emergen-C, Theraflu (that's my go to for night-time...knocks you right out!), lots and lots of fluids!

Not sure if this will help you now, but it wouldn't hurt-

Zinc crops (cold- eeze) you should start taking em as directed as soon as you feel a cold coming on. I swear by them, they make the cold into no big deal and it passes much more quickly and much less intense.

Oh and any ideas how to play down my super red face! I look like Rudolph no joke! and it spreads from my nose to face!! Concealer was no help this morning!

When you go to bed, put Vicks on the bottom of you feet, then put on socks.  Not sure why this works but it does!  Everytime I get a cold I do that - during the day & at night, & it works really well.  My mom swears by it!  = )

    Hope you're feeling better soon!  = )

Lots and lots of rest and hot fluids.  That sucks that you have to travel with a cold!

Strawberry C Odwalla juice and Red Bull. I usually do this as soon as I feel symptoms and it seems to prevent them (one bottle of that particular Odwalla is 2000% of the RDA needed for Vitamin C) so that may not work for you.

Are you congested in your head/sinuses? The last cold medicine I took was Aleve something or other, the kind from behind the pharmacy counter that you have to show your ID for and promise that you won't make meth with it. It made me feel a tad bit light headed, but it sure kicked my cold's ass...

A co worker of mine swore by neddy (sp?) pots. You pour hot liquid through them into your nose, it passes through the sinus, and comes back out the other nostril. Sounds gross, but they use them all the time in other countries.

Whenever I get sick, I drink fluids like a fish, sleep as much as I possibly can and take lots of Zicam.

I do this every time I get a cold and I get over it in 2 days, kid you not.

It sucks that this is the only stuff that works.  I swear by the "good" Sudafed and buy several packs a year.  The regular stuff is completely worthless.  I wish they'd start carding for Robitussin, too.  My dad is a pharmacist and has said that kids buy it to get high.

Thanks ladies -- I Robitussin last night and woke up feeling much better... the long hot shower felt amazing but by the time I got to work an hour or so later I was feeling almost the same!! I'll let you know if anything you ladies suggested works for me...

unfortunately Caffine gives me Migraines (I know I weird and opposite) so the red bull remedy is out for me - bummer.

It's a neti pot, and they're really a life saver!  I haven't used it much for a cold, but if you're congested or have any goop in your sinuses at all, it's a lifesaver.

Also, don't use HOT water.  You'll burn yourself.  Use warm salt water.  It takes a lot to convince someone to try a neti pot, but once you use it, you get addicted!  FI thought I was crazy when I'd use it, but I finally got him to do it, and he was so greatful!

    So In Love

Another option to the neti pot is a sinus irrigation spray...its called Ocean something or other and it comes in a aerosol like bottle (orange cap, blue bottle, I believe). It works REALLY well to clear up sinuses in the same way the neti pot does, but its a little more user-friendly. You can find it next to the neti pots at the store.
