NWR: New food at the MN State Fair

Oh yeah, it's time for some food p0rn.

FI and I actually planned our wedding based on the MN State Fair (no joke), so I'm super excited to be able to send this to our OOT family and friends who'll be making their first trip to MN:

Can't freaking wait to go to the Fair and gorge myself on all the food that I can eat when I don't have to worry about fitting into my dress ;)

Pretty much all of that sounds nasty! I love the state fair and the food, but I mostly love all the stuff that has been there forever, like the french fries, martha cookies, and corn on the cob.

You made me want State Fair food!

I'll definitely want to try the Sloppy Joe on spiral cut potato chips and the deep-fried shortcake.

Thank goodness my dress has a corset back!

    Okay,

    A) Not fair. October wedding = No fair food for me.

    B) Gravy on chicken fried bacon? Seriously? I've had a chicken fried bacon BLT (and honestly, it was frickin' awesome), but does breaded and deep fried bacon really need gravy?

    C) Now I want mashed potatoes on a stick. Boooo.

I can't wait for the fair this year!  We missed it last year because we were in the middle of moving, but I'm absolutely going this time (with a friend, not FI since he's not as much fun there) because I have tickets to see Rush.  I want cheese curds and homemade potato chips so bad it hurts!  I'm going to try to find the chocolate covered bacon, too, just to gross out my friend who's a vegetarian.  Diet be damned!

I can gorge on State fair food if I'm not tying the knot for another two years, right? Wink

Hey date twin! I'm SO with you. Ever since we finalized our date, I've been thinking about how much I can't wait to pig out at the fair afterwards!!!
I gotta try that grilled marshmallow, chocolate, and banana sandwich. Maybe my don't-feel-so-gulity food this year along with the corn-on-the-cob (so it's butter drenched, it's still a vegetable!). Gotta go with the all-time favorite deep fried pickles too! Mmmmm... I can't wait!!

I always get the deep fried pickles and deep fried candy bar on a stick.  I know, neither healthy....but both super yummy!  Thank god my wedding's the weekend before the fair.

I am a die hard State Fair fan!  I haven't missed a year of my life (granted my mom took me during those early years.)  I go at least 5 times and eat Deep Fried Pickles every trip.  Other faves include Cheese Curds, Deep Fried Candy Bar on a Stick, Cookies and then hit up the Milk Booth, Corn Dog, ... oh the list could go on.

I heard there are no new foods this year due to lack of space for new stands and no vendors are leaving.  Can anyone verify this fact?

My wedding is in October, but since I already have my State Fair fund savings (I literally start saving in April with loose change) and I would never give up the fair, I will just go on a strict diet and work out after Labor Day!

Um, chicken-fried bacon? And deep-fried shortcake? YUM! I've only been to the MN state fair once (FI is from MN and she took me last year cuz we were in town over Labor Day), and now I'm very sad that I don't get to go again this year. An experiment involving DIY chicken-fried bacon at home probably isn't going to help me lose weight though, is it? :(
