Ceremony & Reception at same venue

For those of you who are having the ceremony & reception at the same place, are you having a DOC or who is 'directing' the wedding?  I am kind of worried about who will queue each person to walk down the isle and such....

We are having two different venues but for some weddings I have been a P.A. in that was my job. So that is an option!

Have your Personal Attendant serve as the one that will cue up everyone to walk and at what times. :)

My ceremony and reception place provides us with a DOC, she does all of the decorating for me, and queue people as you said. I would just email your venue and ask!

My venue will provide someone to do this as well, but I was also a personal attendent and that was actually my only job of the day and I loved doing- it was really fun to see everyone right before they went down the aisle, espeically the bride :)

We got married at PEC, and their coordinator did it for us :)

Yep...we definitely have a DOC - I couldn't survive without her!  We have some interesting logistics to work through, however (outdoor ceremony chairs will also be our chairs at the reception and have to be moved upstairs).  Our "venue" coordinator will also be there but I'm not entirely sure what she does other than oversee the catering staff and table settings and such.

We're not. I can't personally justify the expense. If your WP is given a musical cue to walk down the aisle and they're given a number to count to, it should't be a problem-- especially if you practice.

I was a PA this summer and this was my job too - it was actually really fun and quite an honor that my cousin asked me to do this :)  We rehearsed it (at the rehearsal) and had musical cues, but everyone was so nervous and excited that I was the only one who remembered the cues!  After everyone went down the aisle, we closed the doors, then when the song changed, one of the ushers and I opened the doors for the bride - it was very grand and traditional and everyone loved it!  Once the bride was at the altar, we just snuck in and sat at the back.

My wedding and reception were at the same place, and I didn't have a DOC. We only had a best man/MOH, so there weren't a lot of people to line up. I did ask the DJ that was set up near the back of the room to give the attendants a nod when it was time for them to start walking, and I asked a friend and her boyfriend to watch for a signal from the DJ and hold open the doors for my dad and I.
