Engaged Encounter??

Hello!!

I usually lurk on the SoFla board because i'm getting married in Miami but I was wondering if anyone on the boards was going to the Columbus engaged encounter this weekend?

If anyone has gone to one can you tell me what you took or wished you would have taken?

TIA!!

We're going to Pre-Cana this weekend, but I didn't know there was an Engaged Encounter this weekend also. My friends who got married recently all suggested to dress comfortably, because some said they had to do activities that required moving around. That's all I got though- they were a little vague as to what actually goes on and had different experiences. Hope you have fun.

My fiance and I went to EE out in St. Louis over the summer.

Bring comfortable clothes, you spend a lot of time sitting and listening, sitting and writing, sitting and reading, and sitting and talking.  People wore jeans, yoga/stretchy pants, etc. so you won't be the only one if you go for total comfort.  :-)

At least for St. Louis, they tell you to bring a non-refrigerated shareable snack.  There was a WIDE variety of food available, from cookies to Chex mix to apples and bananas.  I would recommend bringing bottled water or something else that you like to drink (not as your shareable snack, just for your personal usage).

Bring a pen/pencil because of all of the writing that you'll do.  I would also recommend a highlighter (probably not needed, but I would've liked to have had one) so that when you read over your fiance's letters you can highlight things that you want to talk about later, rather than flipping back and forth trying to find what you wanted to talk about.

Overall, EE was a very good experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is engaged/thinking about getting engaged (we actually participated in EE before we were engaged).  My fiance and I thought that we had talked about everything, and what else could be presented to us that we hadn't already talked about, but we definitely did learn new things about each other.  Enjoy your time this weekend!!

My fiance and I are getting married in Columbus, but live in Georgia right now. We are attending the EE weekend in Atlanta on Jan 22-24. We are actually spending two nights in a hotel and they provide the meals, etc. I was told to dress comfortably as well, even though I haven't received the final info/directions yet. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but you should be able to contact the coordinator for the Columbus EE and ask them those questions. They have a website: engagedencounter.com. You can find the state, city, etc and it should show a person's contact info and you can ask them. Hope this helps some...
