Catering Requests For A Vintage Wedding

I am having a 50's housewife kinda themed wedding. I want to buy tv dinner trays and have menu selections such as meatloaf and potatoes, fish sticks and mac and cheese, and chicken pot pie.

Would a caterer do this kindve thing? Most ive looked at online have set menus, but do any do unique requests like this? The only other option i can think of is to have the reception at a venue that doesnt require me to use their caterer and simply hire a friend as the caterer. We wont have a huge number of guests... 100 max.

I posted this in the Food and Cake section and they suggested i post in my local forum to see if anyone knows any specific caterers who would be willing to work with me on this.

What a fun idea!  I'm not sure about specialized caterers (although I would think that there have to be some that would work with you), but I do know that most places will require you to have a licensed caterer, so hiring a friend is probably out.  There are health code restrictions that venues have to follow. Have you looked at restaurants that make that kind of food?  I know that Brasa caterers weddings and I've heard that Key's Cafe does cakes.  Maybe they would do meals, too.  Nothing says home-cookin' like Keys.

On the same theme, we did canned goods (apple butter, stawberry jam, maple syrup) for our favors.  That's kind of homemaker-ish, but maybe more 40s.

I have not used them - but I saw some items like this on the Chowgirls catering menu.

    Fantastic idea!

When I had special requests form my caterer they were like "sure no problem" then I got the estimate after I signed with them. They upcharged for every little thing. So make sure you get a true estimate of exactly what you have in mind before signing.  Chow girls does seem flexible, maybe another restaurant in town that does that sort fo cooking.  Jax Cafe may have a similar menu and I know they have a nice sized ballroom upstairs.

I'd ditto the ChowGirls, as they might work with you to come up with this kind of menu, otherwise, check with Pop restaurant, there is one in NE mpls, and one in St Paul and they do this kind of food on their menu, but I have no idea if they ever do catering?

    Good luck, sounds fun!

I would check out this link!  There are several options to choose from and I'm sure you'll find a caterer that can mold your perfect menu for you!
