Frustrated

So our BM dresses were set to be here Feb 7th, a week ago today. So I called on the 7th and asked what was up cause I hadn't heard anything. They said, "oh no thats the date they're being shipped" and I was like uhhh no that's NOT what you told me you said they'd be here on that date. But when she said "they'll be here tomorrow most likely, or Monday at the very latest" I calmed down and figured ok a day or two isn't that bad. 

So Monday came and went with no word and I called Tuesday and asked what was going on cause once again the estimated date they gave me came and went with no call, they said "oh we just got a delivery yours might be in there can I call you back in 10 minutes?" Soooo 5 hours later I call AGAIN, getting more and more pissed off like "hey I waited for a call back and no one ever called me" She says Oh i'm so sorry we were so busy (at 1 pm on a Tuesday? Yeah I'm sure) and then tells me no, my dresses weren't in that shipment.

I made it very obvious how frustrated I was at the lack of communication and she says "I'll check on this tomorrow for you don't worry I'll straighten it out" Well yesterday came and went and here I am still with no word on when the dresses are supposed to be here... 

What I don't understand is how if I buy a package online I can track it with no problem.. here they have about 1500 dollars worth of dresses and it's apparently just floating around somewhere and I have no idea when it will get here. 

And I'm sure my limited patience with the wedding getting closer and closer isn't helping! 

On a good note only 10 days til my shower and gifts have been flying off the registry :) Let's pray it doesn't snow!!

  • That stinks about your maids' dresses.  They really need to work on this process as a whole!

    The place I went to forces you to wait to order until all the girls have called in sizes and paid over the phone.  Then they ship everything to the bride, signature confirmation required (so I had to take a half-day at work to be able to sign for the postal carrier) with the only notice of when they are coming the day before.  Then I had to pay to ship them separately to my out-of-state bridesmaids so they can take care of their alterations before the big day.  Talk about an inconveneient process -- what a hassle!!

  • Not trying to be mean but this is what I do everyday at work (I work at a bridal store) and we have no control of when they ship or anything (the only thing we do is process the order and recieve it)  A lot of the times the companies (bill levkoff, Alexia, Allure, etc) won't give us tracking numbers.  We have no control over UPS or customs.  Please be nice we understand your frustrated but would you appreciate it if you got yelled at your work for something that was out of your control... And if they just got a shipment in when they were on the phone with you they were probably busy doing stuff with that shipment...and on top of it keep in mind was just chinese new years so that pushes everything back.

  • I ordered them through my bridal shop.

    I'm annoyed because no one has said "we're not sure when it will be here" they've said "it will definitely be here tomorrow, if not then Monday at the latest"

    At that point once it doesn't arrive by Monday I DO blame the bridal shop because they shouldn't have said incorrect information. I've worked about 8 retail jobs and I know all about customers blaming me for circumstances out of my control, but when I truly don't know when a shipment will be in, I'm honest and say that level of knowledge is above my expertise and I don't know when it will be in.

    I wouldn't lie to the customer and then get annoyed when they take me for my word.

    Also what does chinese new year have to do with anything?

  • I think a lot of the designers get the dresses made in China.  That being said, the Chinese New Year happens in February and I believe the factories close down or cut back the work force severely for 2 weeks?  That's why my shop encouraged my girls to get their orders in before mid-December. 

    I picked up 3 of them today, only one more left to come over from China.

    Oh I didn't make that connection lol. Either way, my dresses are ready I just have no idea where they are : really hope I get a call this weekend

  • I would ask them to call the manufacturer and ask when they will receive them, or ask for the number to call yourself. I would be super pissed to be lied to as well.
