Best man problems

So my FI best man is his best friend from hs.  We used to be really close but since my FI and I stopped drinking I can't handle his immaturiaty(his=the best mans not my FI) anyways this weekend he text my FI asking if he was "doing" Jen (this girl who is obsessed with FI and we have had problems with way earlier in our relationship.  Although i know this is completely false because we have since moved 100 miles away from all of them and whenver we go home we go home together so I know it is completely false.  I still feel like joke or not it was totally unnecessary especially coming from the best man.  Aren't they supposed to support us in our journey?  sorry had to rant somewhere.  Not even sure  if this makes sense.

Re: Best man problems

  • Oh, that's not even cool!  Your FI needs to man up and put a stop to that - like, yesterday.  He has no right to disrespect you like that and I definitely would not stand for someone like that in my wedding party.  Shape up or ship out, jerk!

Sorry you have to deal with this.  *HUG*  Sometimes when you make changes in your life, your eyes get opened to a whole lot of things that you let slide that you probably shouldn't have.  Hopefully your FI can whip this guy into shape.... or find the courage to replace him.

  • I do think that is very disrespectful, and I think your FI should say something to his friend about it.

Did your FI respond at all to the text?

  • Wow. Yes, agreed with PP. Immaturity is one thing, but marriage is very serious and he needs to support both you and your FI and your commitment! There's no room for jokes like that - completely out of line for anyone, but especially coming from someone in the wedding party! FI needs to handle it and be straight with his best man that he needs to cut the crap. Has the best man made comments like this before? How did FI handle it then?

  • Thanks girls...good to know i wasn't out of line...and yes BM jokes about stuff like this all the time to my FI even in front of me and I've mentioned it to him multiple times...he is just a perv and a half and FI doesn't mention anything because well i'm not sure why he has mentioned things before just always kind of blows off like oh thats just how he is...but this time is the last time he overstepped the line!!

  • He definitely overstepped the line.  Hopefully, your FI is able to realize that once you talk to him, and get his "friend" to grow up a little bit out of respect for you.

  • I'm seriously wondering why your FI is friends with this guy if he clearly has no respect for you or your relationship. Why won't FI stand up to him and tell him he's out of line?
  • If he is such a good friend to your FI and he wants to continue a friendship with him I think he really needs to say something.

I have an issue with being called a b!tch by people who are close to me; so when FI and I first started dating that was a rule - if he ever calls me that it's game over. One day his best friend was joking around and called me that and I was surprised at how fast my FI (bf at the time) told him not to ever do that again. He didn't make it weird or anything, just said something like "hey that's not cool, don't say that again bro" and that was the end of it. I guess what I am trying to say is stand your ground. If that topic is off limits then your FI needs to understand that hurts you and it needs to stop now.

  • Yea, definitely have your hubby to be say something, that is not right! I have my issues with by fi best man- he has been rude to me and has actually been caught talking behind our backs. Its nothing worse knowing that the best man, who will be standing next to my FI,  is not supportive and has been bitter/mean towards us. But it is really up to the fiance to say something to him, if we get involved, all the sudden WE are the ones who are crazy and have the problem. Anyway, I can definitely relate, so you are not alone. **HUGS** and hang in there. The wedding day is about you and your fiance, so forgot anyone else who is not on the same page. :)
