Filling up the table

I've asked this before, but since I can't bump up any threads I'm asking again.

For those of you having a cocktail/buffet style reception, what are you doing to make your table look less empty?  Since there won't be a place setting at each seat, I find the tables look kind of barren even with a dramatic floral arrangement.

I was thinking about making a runner like this one: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/226351/round-table-runner-how

or maybe running ribbon across the tables to create a frame.

Any other ideas?

TIA

Re: Filling up the table

  • how about a mirror with candles?????
  • I am doing flower arrangements in the middle with rose petals all around. Then I am putting favors where the plates would normally go.

I would have used the candles and mirrors but I have a day wedding so it doesnt work. :(

    Hope that helps!

  • I'm having a buffet also, but I"m planning on using chargers as the place setting with the favor or just the napkin folded nicely with the favor. Otherwise it does look too empty.
  • I am using a runner with candle/vase centerpieces in the middle of the table. I am also going to put the favor boxes on the table (chocolate & ivory) alternating between the two colors at each seat. To make it seem a little more elegant, I am purchasing menu cards on vistaprint and will place them at every other seat so that guests will know what is being served at the buffet stations before they go.

  • I was going to use chargers, but having some trouble finding them at a decent price.

</div><div>Are you having candles? Different size candles will make it look fuller and maybe rose petals. Nikki gave me a list of possible ways to dress your tables. PM if you want it.

  • That would be a huge help. I am planning to use votives but am probably not spending the money on pillar candles at this point
