Hermann-Grima - Rain Options?

My fiance and I are considering getting married around Jazz Fest (or FQ Fest) this spring, which is the rainy season.  Hermann-Grima is one of our top options for ceremony/reception, but I am very worried about the fact that there isn't a space in doors.  Any advice from other Hermann-Grima brides?

  • I've seen people rent those clear tents.  They look really nice even in rainy weather.

Here is a wedding that Matthew Foster recently did.

  • We just had our ceremony at HGH in April, and while it is a beautiful space, don't forget that the aisle separates the courtyard into two distinct areas. It will definitely take some advanced planning if you want to tent the entire space! One of the reasons we didn't have our reception there was that we were worried about things being too separate, even without rain and tents! If your heart is set on it, I would definitely talk to Aimee (the coordinator) about how they've managed this issue in the past. HTH!

  • A couple more things for you to consider: We got married around the same time as your proposed date (we got married in between FQ Fest and Jazz Fest) and the weather that time of year is actually really nice. April is actually one of the biggest wedding months in NO bc of the weather. That being said, I just wanted to make sure you know that if you are getting married on an actual Festival weekend, hotel rates (especially in the Quarter) will be astronomically expensive. Just make sure you keep that in mind, if you hadn't already considered it.
