PLANNING A WEDDING FOR 150 PPL W/ A BUDGET OF $11,000

Hi there ladies! I'm mostly concerned presently with finding a comfortable venue and next in line is photo and video. I'm willing to go beyond New Orleans, however, nothing that's more than 20 - 30 minutes outstide of the city (ie: Covington, Mandeville, Slidell...). To cut down cost, having the ceremony and reception at one place is preffered. Any recommendations on venues and photo/video are greatly appreciated...Happy Holidays!

  • I think the Fleur de Lis center in Mandeville is pretty reasonably priced.  Another girl also got married at the Lake House on the Lake Front in Mandeville and had beautiful photos.  I would probably avoid Benedict's.  Dark Roux photography is based in Mandeville and also reasonably priced.  Their packages are around $2,000.
  • Is your budget for reception only? or for the entire thing including photo/video, etc.?

  • Thanks a bunch louisianablue!

Regarding the budget, I'm hoping to cap at $11, 000. However, I am planning to have a reserve of a maximum $2,000.
  • Hmmm...I was going to recommend the Wax Museum (Musee Conti) because it is budget friendly, you can have ceremony & reception there, and my reception budget for that number of people is in your neighborhood.  But it could still be an option if you downgrade the bar and cut back on food.  They allow outside catering so this is helpful for the budget.

  • Also, if you're on the Northshore, be sure to stop by Bridal Manor to look for a dress.  They close on January 18 and all of their stock is 80% off.
  • NO2012 - I actually love the idea of that place. The only thing is once you add their fees for rental, T & G and minimal bar I'm at $41 pp. With their recommended caterers the cheapest package totals over my grand budget. Do you personally have a recommendation on a caterer if you didn't go with one they prefer?
  • That's actually where I purchased my gown! I went the day after they announced the closing. My mother was able to get her dress also. Really appreciate the tips. I'm definitely going to check out the places you mentioned!

Look into Capdeboscq Catering. We used them for our wedding at the Wax. I don't remember the prices, but I'm pretty sure it was cheaper than their recommended caterer. There are so many food options, and it was all delicious.

  • Capdebosqc is the cheapest. I think this years package was around 45 PP but if you take things off it gets cheaper.
  • You could also try Gallier Hall. I think their rental fee is about $1500 and you can bring your own catering and alcohol. It's a very beautiful building - was one of our top choices, but we opted for a plantation instead.

    GL!
  • On the outside caterer, I am considering either Pigeon or Capdebosq. I haven't been able to find anything less than $40/pp without alcohol. You might try contacting Beth, the coordinator at the Wax for some suggestions on how to stick within your budget at their venue. She is very friendly and helpful.

  •  I would love to possibly book something before this year is out so I have a better chance of locking in the day I'd like. I'm making note of everything and inquiring with those mentioned in your posts. Thank you all so much for such great tips and ideas!
  • I am having my recpetion at Benedicts in Mandeville for 125 people and their prices are very reasonable.  I am paying less than 40 a person.  Fleur de Lis Center was over 50 a person.  The Lake House in Mandeville was my second choice and is a beautiful location.  150 people for 11,000 can be done.  My wedding is coming in at just over 12,000 but there are certain things I splurged on.
  • Have you found a venue? Definitely check out Southport Hall. Way way within your budget. Happy Planning!
