grooms cake?

Is anyone doing a grooms cake? My FI and I met while working at a pizza hut and I thought it would be really funny to have a grooms cake made to look like the pizza hut building. It should be pretty simple to make well except for all the brick but I still haven't decided yet.

grooms cakes can definitely be fun. we decided that it wasn't a big deal for us since we were looking for ways to save a bit and also because we are having so much cake anyway we didn't think it was necessary

We had a groom's cake, but had it at the rehearsal dinner. It was a surprise, and he absolutely loved it- even brought tears to his eyes!

We didn't have one bc hubby wasn't interested and I didn't want to waste money on something he didn't want. They are becoming more and more popular, it was actually a tradition that started in the south. I think your idea is very cute, though.

We probably aren't going to do one, simply because of the money aspect.  However, the rehearsal dinner idea is super cute!  If I find some money in the budget, I may have to steal that one!

Grooms Cakes seem to be really fun.  And...they usually have the chocolate on chocolate, or other heavy, yummy flavors that are not traditional in the main wedding cake.  And, it can add a little fun and humor to the wedding.  I say, if you like the idea, and have the money in your cake budget, go for it!

I would love to do a groomscake for DF, but I'm not sure... he hates sweets ahha. But if I did do one, I would want to do a mini "Falling Water" (Frank Lloyd Wright) house because DF is an architect and loves FLW. Plus, we took a mini trip to see it one spring break and it was a great vacation for us.

If you're looking for a good place to get it from try Capital City Cakes. It's in Columbus (just outside of bexley) on Broad St. The woman who own it / decorates the cakes is so talented and very nice! As for the cake, it is delicious!! My favorite is the buckeye flavor!!! It's was my favorite place I've looked at for my wedding so far. Hope this helps!
