Daytime Wedding Music Recommendations

I've tried finding ideas for music for a daytime wedding but I'm having trouble. I'm not sure that  DJ is the right idea because guests may be reluctant to dance during the day, but a jazz trio or quartet seems like it may be too mild. Trying to strike the balance between daytime and guests enjoying the music entertainment and possibly dancing if they could be persuaded.

I'm thinking I'd like soft background music for the ceremony, totally not sure about the reception and then we are ending with a second line band.

If you had or have been to a daytime wedding what type of music/musicians did they have?
Any vendor recommendations?

  • I hired the Courtyard Kings to play for my ceremony and cocktail hour.  I thought they were great and have a wide range that they can play.  Their pricing is for three hours, but we only used them for two.  They might be a little too quiet for you though.

  • We used courtyard kinds for our ceremony, they played all sorts of stuff from the Beatles to David Bowie.

During our dinner, we had one of H's GMs make up a playlist of old New Orleans and Cajun style music. I think something like that might be cool for you daytime background music, if its your style.

We did lots of British rock and all sorts of stuff for the dancing part, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you're looking for.
