where to donate flowers after the wedding

Hello,

I am looking into places to donate flower arrangements following the reception. Most guests wll be from out of town and won't take them, and I'd like the centerpieces to go to some good use. Does anyone know of any organizations that could do something with flowers once the wedding is over?

Thanks for your help!

That is very nice of you!

I would generally suggest hospitals, nursing homes, churches...unfortunately I don't know of specific referrals.

I'm wondering if your florist or the person at your venue would know?  And/or you could call some of the local hospitals: Oschner, East Jefferson, Tulane Medical Center, etc....to see if they have a setup like this.

Sorry I don't have specific referrals, but that is a very thoughtful idea!  You are a: Innocent for doing that! Smile

I donated flowers for a work event to Poydras Home, a nursing home uptown. They were very grateful and I still receive the monthly newsletter!

That is the sweetest thing I've ever heard!

Where are you getting married? Maybe we could recommend places that are geographically close. For example, if you're getting married at the Tea Room or in Audubon Park the Children's Hospital is right there.

The wedding is in the FQ... during FQF weekend! It'll be hard to get through the streets, but it would be ideal if someone/place could come pick them up-
it would be such a shame for the centerpieces to go to waste!
