Plantation Florist in Destrehan- A++
Janie was awesome to help me out after I had a falling out with another florist. She picked right up and helped me with everything. She had everything I imagined and wanted. She is so great to work with.
Flawless Bride- A
They were able to work out a date with me in such a short notice. Great job.
The Columns Hotel- venue and reception- F- - -
I will start off my saying that the coordinator has no idea what he is doing. Upon initial visit he told us we could call and set up a date to test food for the reception. Everytime I called to set up a date he had all kinds of excuses and told me he could only have me taste another wedding parties food to see if I liked what they were having. I told him no- I wasn't comfortable doing that and the dates didn't work. He said he would call me back the next day after talking to chef and schedule appt. Never did. In fact he never called me back anytime he said he was going to. Never got a tasting of food. Now I know why- it was horrible. My cheese and fruit spread I thought would be elaborate and lots of fruit and cheese. It was a small 9x 16 tray with cheese cubes and cantelope. THATS IT! Rehearsal was a nightmare. Wedding ceremony was worse. Chairs were not set up until 10 minutes of ceremony. My parents paid for a 3 string quartet that played outside while they were setting up. He made all my guests stay inside while they set up. So no one could hear the quartet that my parents paid a ton of money for. Also- my ushers where running around getting extra chairs at the last minute ( he said he ordered 50 chairs) I had 48 guests and they had to find more. He changed the order around as to who was walking down the aisle at the last minute. (what was the point in rehearsal?) He told my sister to light the unity candle instead of my mom. (My mom's idea and wanted to do it) My sister just listened to him thinking I knew what was going on. He had my bridal portrait next to the unity candle instead of at the entrance of the reception. I felt like I was walking into my funeral. He had put chairs down the center aisle of the walkway. My and my dad couldn't fit in between them when walking down the aisle. (were not big people). Reception- the food was gross. The plates were small and you got to put 2 bites of food on the plate. I had shrimp etouffee and the rice was hard. Veggies overcooked and the pasta dish was dry. At cake cutting I told him to cut the top piece also- we bought it for guests to eat also. He insisted it was for our anniversary. He didn't listen to me and never cut the top portion of cake. Also- since he saved it, I never got it. The only good mistake he made was that he had hard alcohol set up at the bar for the reception when we only paid for wine and beer. We didn't tell him until last minute and he said "oops, I guess I have to eat that one". I have no idea where they got this guy. Sad thing is that he was late setting up for my wedding because he was too busy trying to get another contract for a wedding. Oh- and he made me come out of the food service entrance in the back of the hotel. I started walking down a slippery slilmy ramp and fell (I'm also pregnant) on slimy old food and dirt. I had bloody elbows walking down the aisle.....just great. Stay away from this place for a wedding! It's beautiful but please wait until they get someone who knows what they are doing!
