Louisiana-New Orleans

Stressing about hotel suite/ getting ready, etc.

HI fellow NOLA Brides,

I am trying to work out the logistics for the wedding day and am getting stressed over suites/ getting ready.  Our wedding is at St. Louis Cathedral, and we will need a hotel suite to get ready in.  We have blocks at the Omni and Westin, but the Omni only has a 300 sq foot suite available, and the Westin suites look so sterile and business like, although they have offered us a deal.  I am considering staying in the suite on the night of the rehearsal, getting ready in it on the day of the wedding, and then staying in it the night of our wedding as well.  But I am nervous bridesmaids, etc. will leave stuff in it.  Does anyone have suggestions on this?  What about getting ready in a hotel that we don't have a block in? Another hiccup is that almost all hotels have a 2 night min. because the wedding is during Jazzfest.  I definitely want to be in the FQ.  Also, what are other FQ brides doing about transportation?  I could theoretically walk to the church (and take pics along the way) but not sure this is a good idea.  Lastly, any suggestions on going to a salon to have hair done or bringing someone in?

Thanks!

I am getting married at the St Louis Cathedral and getting the Omni.  The Omni has conference rooms that they allow brides and grooms to get get dressed in.  It worked out really for my sister's wedding.

I would also check out The Bourbon Orleans.

I am riding in a Rolls royce with my dad, and we have a limo and limo bus for the bridal party.  We are having a carriage to ride back to Omni.

I struggled with this too!  We're using the 1600 sq ft suite at the Westin and then staying there that night.  The price can't be beat for the size!  The most important thing to me was to avoid being crammed into a small space.  I would rather use the leftover money for better hotel rooms on our honeymoon.  I am going to put a sign on the door reminding BMs to take everything out, and I will also ask them to kindly remove everything before heading down the aisle.  My coordinator is also working with the hotel to come and clean the room after we vacate it during the ceremony and reception so that it's all clean before we return that evening.  I would also recommend having someone come to your room for hair and makeup.  Why add stress to your day?  That way you can sit back, relax, and prepare for your big day!  HTH!
