FQ Engagement shoot vs. Sugar Bowl Fans...

Hi ladies

FI & I have our engagement shoot planned for Monday, January 2nd in the afternoon (around 3.30pm) in the FQ. As the Sugar Bowl is still nearly a week later, I would assume the fans would only be arriving later in the week, but another vendor cautioned me about it. Do you think we'll have any problems with all the craziness? I am struggling with whether we should change locations.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
:)

Just noticed that the Sugar Bowl is actually on January 3rd... I always thought it was on the 7th or so.

Hmm... definitely thinking about changing locations now...

I agree that it may be busy. For the most part, I think people would be respectful and not ruin your photo shoot though. Maybe you could take photos in a section that isn't heavily populated by the fans. Good luck!

Why don't you shoot your photographer a note and see what he/she thinks?

I recently had my bridal pictures taken in a public area, and people were mostly respectful (except for one couple who had the nerve to try to ask the photographer to take THEIR picture!) and my pictures came out great.  The photographer said if there was a random person in the background he could edit them out.

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

    Thanks, ladies!

Just asked photographer and he said it shouldn't be a problem since we'll be shooting in less-touristy areas and if there are fans in some shots, it could be fun.

Depending on whether you and your photog are early birds... maybe an early morning shoot? My E-pics in the FQ were taken at 7AM to get the right light. My photog is an early bird and my FI and I wanted to have good pics, so we all got up early. The pics turned out great and there was almost NO ONE in the FQ (to include Jax Square). I highly recommend this if you're concerned about lots of craziness while you're taking pics.

If I could do it over again, I would. I'd just put more dehumidifying spray in my hair (lol).

  • Audubon Park is a nice place to have your engagement pics taken.  My daughter had hers taken there as she will be living near the park once she weds.  City Park is also nice.
