centerpiece hieght?

I am struggling with this....I don't want my centerpieces to be too low, but how high can they be before they would obstruct the view of guests sitting opposite one another at a 60" table?  Also what diameter are you going with?  Meaning if I am going for a ball type look for the flowers how big around should it be?  (to look balanced with the size of the table and the height of the vase?)  I am alternating low floral centerpieces with tall candelabras (grrrr should I ever find them....)  Anyone have any advice?  Thanks!

Re: centerpiece hieght?

  • Hey girl!

Im by no means an expert, I'm still trying to navigate the unknown floral world myself :) but I remember one florist telling me that for the low arrangements, you don't want the highest part of the centerpiece to be higher than 12" (so your vase I'd imagine would need to be no taller than 8-9"). For the tall centerpieces, I was told you want your vases (or I suppose, in your case, the narrow parts of your candlebras) to measure at least 20" before any widening / obstruction. I think the 12-20" range is where most people's eye level sits relative to the table.

I would imagine these rules would all change if you were planning a seated dinner where you want guests to be able to see a head table / events at the front of the room, in which case I would just suggest getting creative with table arrangements.

I honestly have no idea about the diameter of the ball type low arrangements. I'm going with the same thing for mine, and I asked my florist if the size we were using would balance with the size tables I have, and she said "yes" so im just trusting that :). We're also having 60" tables - I'd be happy to email her for you and find out what size she suggests!

Are you using a florist or DIY?
