Free Venue Ideas or Budget Friendly Venues

Hello!

Wedding is tentively planned for March 2013.  I love NOLA so much, its only fitting I get married in the place I adore.  What we want in our wedding is more of a party than a super traditional wedding.  We would rather spend our money on our friends having a good time and enjoying themselves at this destination wedding, instead of spending a bunch of money on a lot of decorations ect.  These are the things we are still looking for, so any suggestions anyone has would be GREATLY appreciated.

1) We plan on renting a vacation house for the week, we need to find one under 1500 for the week that can house at least 10 people. 

2) A free venue (by free, I mean, less than 200 bucks to use).  Something with it's own natural beauty would be great.

3) A inexspensive resturant to cater around 25 people for dinner. 

4) A game plan for bar hopping, sites to see ect.

I'm also considering paying for a ghost tour for my group.  That sort of thing.

Just a quick Google search for New Orleans vacation rentals turned up this house. 1500-2000 a week for 12 people. Not too shabby. 

For a venue, what about a pavilion at Audubon Park?  It's something like 50 bucks and there is running water and bathrooms available.

how do you know if the house will be large enough to accommodate your wedding though?  do you tell the people you rent the house from that you're looking to throw a wedding there?

make sure to check out www.vrbo.com. It has hundreds of vacation rentals of all different sizes that you can sort through by bedroom numbers or by how many it sleeps.  I use it for all my vacations.

I too had the same mind frame as you. I wanted a party. We had our reception at southport hall and it was a party! Nothing fancy at all, but everyone had a great time. Its a live music venue so a band is a must in my opinion. Your plans seem sooo cool but thought i would put this in your ear. Happy planning!
