Photographer help...

So I never thought I would be going through this, and I'm sorry this is so long, but...Right after our reception ended we talked with the photographer and he said 4 to 6 weeks. I emailed him at the end of the third week and just said that I was anxious to see the pictures and just wanted an updated timeline. He replied and said that he hoped to have the pictures done four or five days later. He had some water in his house which turned into mold so they were finding a rental place to move to until the house could be repaired. I told him that I totally understood, because they have a 10-month old daughter and I realize that there are more important things than having my wedding pictures asap.I didn't hear anything, so after two more weeks I sent him an email (early this week). I didn't hear anything back. So I sent him another email today but I haven't heard anything back yet.Is it too early to start getting really upset about this? When I met with him he was very professional and didn't seem like the type to be non-responsive, so I assume it has to do with what's going on at home and I want to be understanding. But on the other hand I paid for pictures within a certain time frame. What do I do?

He's still within his time frame if you emailed him at 4 weeks.  I would give him a bit of lee-way; he did advise you that he has extenuating circumstances..  Maybe once you do hear from him, you could see if he would throw in some prints or something for free.

I definitely understand your urgency. My photog got my pics back in 3 weeks and I could barely contain myself.  That being said, if he is in a rental house he may not have access to e-mail or anything, especially if his office was at home.  I think he has given a very good reason for the delay and really 6 weeks isn't that long to have to wait compared to some photographers timelines.  I know he gave you an updated timeline but things may be taking longer than he thought to get everything done.  If I am reading your timeline right it sounds like you are right around the end of the 6th week? I would say to give him another week at least, maybe 2.  Also - do you have a phone number you could call him? I think that might be the best option if he hasn't responded to e-mails. Good luck!

I'm having a similar issue. My photographer has not even cashed our check yet and it has been almost 2 months since our wedding. My Mom is about to cancel the check but I told her to hold off beacuse I am afraid then I will never get the photos!

I vividly remember what it was like to be so anxious for my wedding photos that it felt like I was going to jump out of my skin, so I can sympathize with what you're feeling. That said, he's still within the 4-6 week time frame that he initially quoted you, and that didn't even account for the circumstances of having to relocate his family and deal with mold overtaking his house.  It is far too early to get upset about this, I'm sorry to say.  And unless your contract stated a specific time frame, you *didn't* pay for photos within a certain time frame.  It sounds like he verbally stated a 4-6 week window and you can't hold him to that.  Not to mention the fact that if you tried to hold him to that knowing what he's dealing with in terms of his home... well, it wouldn't shine a favorable light on you.
