vendor reviews-long!

Hi Everyone, I just got married this Sunday, and everything turned out to be amazing! The weather actually improved a little bit by Sunday, rain stopped, and sun came out for the pictures at night. I thought I would share these vendor reviews since I was very happy with the way the whole night went. Venue: Grey Rock Mansion (A): I worked with Austin, who was wonderful. She answered emails (and all my questions and requests) quickly and happily. The venue was great, and I picked it b/c I wanted an outdoor ceremony (gazebo in the back) but would be happy with the indoor rain plan. Good thing, b/c it was 40 degrees outside so we moved everything indoors to the ballroom. The dinner was on the tented patio and the food was excellent. Cake and alcohol was included in our package, and was a great deal. One knottie commented that they refused to open the tent sides for her. My day was way too cold, so it didn't matter, but I guess ask about that if it concerns you. I had absolutely no problem with them, the staff was great, and everything I dropped off the Friday before was put out correctly. It was a little nerve-wreaking not having Austin there the day of, but everything turned out ok, so I guess I had nothing to worry about. Hotel: Hyatt Place Owings Mills (A): Newly remodeled, and only three miles from Grey Rock. Chose this hotel b/c they provide a free shuttle to and from Grey Rock. The hotel itself is beautiful, with free bfast. There was a little problem with the shuttle since it can only fit 11 people and took about 15 min round trip so we had to delay ceremony about 10 min to wait for people. Other than that, no biggie, worked out well. DJ: Anthony Simpson, Mydeejay.com (A++): I know the A++ is dumb, but these next two vendors were absolutely amazing. Anthony was actually assigned to us by mydeejay, but he was exactly the type of dj we wanted; laid back, and not cheesy. We had a pretty extensive do not play list, and gave him a basic idea of the type of music we wanted played. He did an excellent job and kept everyone on the dance floor all night long. Photographer: Joe Gijundis, JPGphotography.com: A++: Pictures were very important to us since we weren't having a videographer. Joe is an award-winning photojournalist, based out of Phllly (originally from Bmore). He did an awesome job, and even posted some teasers on a computer during the reception. Everyone commented on how professional and easy to work with he was, and how amazing his pictures are...can't wait to see all of them! Hair: Mindy Whalen: A+: Mindy did a great job..I was very happy with the way my hair looked, and it stayed up all night. Makeup: Amie Decker : A+: Amie is so nice and great to work with. She made me feel very at ease, and my makeup looked great and stayed on all night. Everyone was amazed at how awesome my eye makeup looked. Amie did an excellent job. Alterations: Angie: A+: Of course Angie lives up to all of the great reviews on the boards. She lives a little far out in Fairfax, but it is worth the drive. She does a great job! I bought my dress off the rack about 3 sizes too big and she made it fix amazing. She also did my bustle and added hooks to the back of the dress...all for a VERY reasonable price. Flowers: Flowers and Fancies: A: Overall, I had a good experience and the flowers looked great the day-of. About two months before the wedding they fired our floral designer..a little hectic but worked out for the best once we got someone new and more competent. There were a couple minor things wrong with the boutinneres and my bouquet didn't look exactly as I envisioned, but no major complaints. They showed up on time, everything looked great, and I especially loved the bridesmaids bouquets. For a day-of decision to move inside, they did an excellent job, no complaints. Hope this helps! Feel free to message me if you have any questions! Thanks for all of your help over the past year and a half!
