I need your opinions on Ceremony music!!!

Hello ladies! My FI and I really want our ceremony music to be different and fun. We would have the BMs and GMs walk down to a fun song, I will probaby walk to something from RENT or a Beatles song, and we are still working on him! As soon as the ceremony is over, we want to leave to Queen- Best Friend. My feeling is that I really want these songs to sound as original as possible and I do not think strings will cut it. I was wondering if you think it would be really cheesy/silly to have the ceremony music on a CD and played through speakers that would be strategically placed. The guests certainly wouldn't see them but I still wonder if this will end up being a bad idea. What do you think?

We are planning to use a CD and the ceremony site's music system to play a string quartet instrumental tribute to coldplay and dashboard confessional songs for the processional and the recessional.  For the bridal procession, we're using a string version of Pachabel's Canon.  We wanted something a little different too, and this seemed perfect for us.  Even better, we downloaded the MP3s of them and put them on an ipod so that we could cut the music the way we wanted it and make sure we only played our favorite parts.Hope this helps!Amie

I had my DJ play the ceremony for me, which worked out really well. Are you having the ceremony location separate from the reception? This worked for me b/c mine were at the same venue and all he had to do was bring a separate set up.  I used piano versions of a few of non-traditional ceremony songs, so they did sound traditional to some degree (they're posted in my bio). I think anything you chose will be great if it represents the two of you, you just have to make sure it is executed properly (good quality CDs, speakers, and someone to cue and cut off each song properly)

My DJ is putting songs on a CD for us to play at the church.  I don't think it is a bad idea but we are doing all of our music that way.
