Intro and Plea for Park Suggestions

Hi, everyone!  i've been poking around the message boards for a while now, but I thought I'd say hi to my fellow Detroit brides.

FI and I have been engaged for a month and are getting married in September 2011.  We want to have a really casual, fun picnic wedding, with a "jeans-pinwheels-individual picnic boxes-picnic blanket quilts in our colors-cupcakes-games-maybe swimming" sort of vibe.

We're trying to nail down a venue now that there's no longer any danger of frostbite from spending 15 minutes investigating a park.  :)  I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for parks that we haven't thought of.  I'm in Ypsilanti, and he's in Westland, and we're willing to drive up to maybe an hour to get somewhere.

The requirements: I'd like somewhere that looks pretty, not some stark, flat vista.  It needs to have a pavilion and at least 10 picnic tables, and be alcohol-friendly.  River-side or a water view would be a plus.  Pavilion can't be TOO far from a parking lot, and there has to be parking for at least 50 cars.  Oh, and there has to be a bathroom nearby.

Any thoughts?  We're checking out the huron metroparks, pinckney recreation area, frog island park in ypsi and island park in ann arbor.  I'm hoping that someone knows of some hidden gem that I haven't thought of.  Thanks in advance!

Sorry this was the only way I could post since it was saying "operation aborted"

There is a nice metropark called Stony Creek.  They have a lake and a few rolling hills.  There are several picinic areas that you can choose from.  Some on the beach and some off the beach.  I used to run cross country meets at Eastwood beach, which would be a great venue since it is the largest picinic area and has a nice swimming beach in front of it.  However, I didn't see this on the list of places you could rent.  You also can have alcohol, just no glass and none on the beach.  It is excatly an hour from Westland.

    Good luck!
