Hi, everyone! i've been poking around the message boards for a while now, but I thought I'd say hi to my fellow Detroit brides.
FI and I have been engaged for a month and are getting married in September 2011. We want to have a really casual, fun picnic wedding, with a "jeans-pinwheels-individual picnic boxes-picnic blanket quilts in our colors-cupcakes-games-maybe swimming" sort of vibe.
We're trying to nail down a venue now that there's no longer any danger of frostbite from spending 15 minutes investigating a park.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for parks that we haven't thought of. I'm in Ypsilanti, and he's in Westland, and we're willing to drive up to maybe an hour to get somewhere.
The requirements: I'd like somewhere that looks pretty, not some stark, flat vista. It needs to have a pavilion and at least 10 picnic tables, and be alcohol-friendly. River-side or a water view would be a plus. Pavilion can't be TOO far from a parking lot, and there has to be parking for at least 50 cars. Oh, and there has to be a bathroom nearby.
Any thoughts? We're checking out the huron metroparks, pinckney recreation area, frog island park in ypsi and island park in ann arbor. I'm hoping that someone knows of some hidden gem that I haven't thought of. Thanks in advance!
