Masquerade Reception!

I'm in love with the idea of a masquerade reception. My colors are going to be black, white and deep purple. I'll give out masks as favors (or maybe use them as place cards, but then they couldn't pick matching colors! :[ ) I'm using lots of feathers (in the center peices and in the bouquets). Im thinking as far as reception music goes having clasical music while everyone eats and start the first dance with a ballroom dance, then scratch it into dance. Also i'm looking at the roostertail for the reception, but it doesn't go with the theme. There are many beautiful reception halls that are clasic looking, but nothing is more beautiful then the view onto the detroit river. Should I give up the view to keep the theme? Ok, so please! I need opinions! How does it sound, any ideas? Also should I get a mask that I hold or get one that ties on?  (sorry for going on for so long!)

Posted by Ameko[/QUOTE]<div>I don't really too many suggestions for ya.  I just wanted to quote your post so everyone could read it.  For some reason, it cut off.  </div><div>
</div><div>And I like the mask idea maybe with some feathers on them, too. Maybe have a giant basket of them as they walk in, so they can choose what color/style they want.  I like the idea of the placecard masks, but like you said, they wouldn't be able to color coordinate.

I've been to lots of events at the Roostertail. I think that this type of theme would actually work very well there, esp with all the windows, vaulted ceiling, and staircase up to the main reception area.

The masquerade idea is cool, but I'm not sure your guests would be into wearing masks. I'd wear the mask for about 2 minutes before it drove me crazy, plus, I wouldn't want to mess up my hair.

My florist, The Parsonage, recently did a masquerade-themed reception at Meadowbrook Hall. The mask was incorporated into the centerpiece. I've attached a pic.
